I know his goals are likely the NFL, but congrats to Cleyon for being drafted 9th overall in the CFL Draft. Being Canadian he will be highly demanded as he can play a position in the CFL that is often dominated by imports. The CFL has a rule where you must start X amount of Canadians. He is what we call a ratio buster!!!

Anyway congrats to Cleyon, just to bad you weren't drafted by my hometown Blue Bombers!!!

I am unsure of the rules to why he can be drafted and still be in school, I think it has more to do with age.

Check out the draft here...TSN CFL News & Scores | Team Standings | CFL Schedules | Highlights

Interesting, on a side note if I ever won the lottery, I would probably move out of the country (for obvious reasons). Maybe Canada would be a ok place to land, at least they hve something close to American Football.

I dont get it.. Does the CFL not start til January? I assume he's graduating in Dec of this year then?

I think the CFL draft is based on age, whenever Cleyon is ready to fall back on the CFL after college and NFL he just cant sign with anybody as Toronto owns his rights. Season starts in June, camps open in May

Really excited to hear the Argos got him, but in looking him up, it seems like he's had some off-field issues? Arrest, suspension. Can anyone fill me in? Hopefully he's matured a little bit

Decent player, it's taken him a little while to adjust to American football and the Big XII, but should be a good contributor this year at defensive end. Not the most athletic player, but high energy.

And don't worry about the arrest/suspension. It was a couple years ago, and it was just weed possession. He's never been in any other trouble as far as I know.

Hate to drag this off topic, but what are those obvious reasons?

He's actually the starting DT. He's also the most athletic DT we have. He's struggled adjusting to DT though as he started off at DE. Our DT coach has said he's not used to the "noise" that comes with playing inside, but that he is improving on that greatly.
