Hoiberg was on with his friend Paul Allen up in Minnesota the morning of the Kansas game (1/12). A lot of new info to me in it regarding our offense and the sets came from (Flip Saunders, Doc Rivers & Rondo to name a few) also points out that Royce had a 3.0 first semester. Other than John Walters, Paul Allen has the best interviews with Fred. Fred also says he doesn't understand people that have to stick to their system when they come into a job and don't adapt to their roster :cough: McDermott?

Link below to download the segment, it was on 1/12 and is titled 'Fred Hoiberg' and it's the first 15 min.

I've written this before, but it bears repeating. Back in May a few weeks after Hoiberg was hired, Matt and Miller had PA on to discuss the Vikings. If you can remember, Matt was very shocked and thought the Hoiberg hire was the funniest thing he'd ever heard of. So as kind of a throw away, he asked PA at the end of the interview if he knew of Hoiberg at all from his role with the Timberwolves. You could tell that Matt expected him to say that he didn't know him and that he thought the hire was crazy. So PA just gushed over the hire and how great he thought it was and how good he thought Fred would do. It was pretty damn funny.

I'm a fan of Minnesota pro teams so I sometimes listen to PA's podcast and I think this is the third time he's had Fred on since he was hired as ISU's coach. They have all been great interviews, and you can really tell that they both respect each other a lot.

Matt was shocked about PA's response on the Hoiberg hire. Funnier then HELL. Matt when proven wrong starts crying like a little girl and twists what he said.

Is Matt's interview somewhere online where PA talks about Fred and makes him mad?

I don't know. They podcast a lot of their shows (and they usually put who they talked to that day), so I'd check around and see if it is there. I'm pretty sure the interview was in May (maybe June).

You could tell that Matt figured that PA had no idea who he was at all and if he did have some sort of vague recolection about him, he would thiknk it was a terrible hire. And it turned out that I think they are actually friends. But even if they hadn't been, Hoiberg was known around the Twin Cities a lot more than Matt would have thought.

I'm currently scanning their podcasts right now, and there are about 5 or 6 podcasts that mention the Fred Hoiberg hire.

Cant wait for Fred's first technical.

I can't help but hope it's in Hilton just to hear the rest of Hilton booing and yelling at the refs. Lets face it, based off his demeanor we've seen on the sidelines (or heard on the radio) when he gets that technical...chances are those refs will probably have deserved what he gave em to earn that T.
