But if the offer is Coach K and Bill Snyder for the previous 20 years, yah I'm signing up for that right now and I don't think there's a debate haha

You also have to look at who the university administration was at the time.

Zero chance that K or Snyder would have gotten the level of support at ISU that they did at Duke/KSU.

Yeah, weren't there a bunch of posters in the 'Rot' thread who were patting themselves on the back for bringing the problems to the coaching staff's attention and saying it never would have been addressed but for them and their abortion of a thread?

It's not shocking but it is sad that fans actually email the coaches with advice, comments, etc. I'm sure the coaches sit around and read them for a laugh during a rare downtime/break. How deluded can one be to think the coaches read fan emails? Crazy.
Pot, meet kettle. Actually, someone told me TJ looks to CF for guidance and inspiration.;)

Coach k said they offered it to him I believe. He would have done well here, I doubt he would have stayed but who knows. It worked out well, Iowa state basketball has a great identity because of Johnny.

Not taking anything away from TJ or bashing Steve, a lot of coaches could (depending on your definition of 'well') do well here with the support and facilities we enjoy as a basketball program

So wait, we nearly hired Coach K for hoops and also had a chance for Bill Snyder for football? Wow, talk about missed opportunities.
Wouldn’t want ‘the vampire.’ Lowered admission standards for one thing. Played qb who violated team rules before bowl game etc. etc.

The thing about would-haves and could haves, There is no way to know that their careers would have played out similarly. Coach K (or Snyder) might have been a bust or might have seen the success he had at Duke (K State). Nice to dream, but no one will ever know.
This. Coach K started slow at Duke and was on the ropes after 2-3 years. There's a good ESPN show about it. No telling how he would have done at ISU. Plus, I would not want to have missed Johnny Freaking Orr at Iowa State. He’s integral to our culture. One of a kind.

What is frustrating about Snyder and John Cooper is that they wanted the ISU job.
