Let the Alverez to Miami, Mac as DC, and Pollard back to Wisconsin rumors begin.

Seriously, I wonder, now that this job is officially open, if or how it will affect our hiring process.

JP is not going anywhere. First off Wisconsin should be leary about all the moves JP has done in just 14 months time at ISU and secondly how would JP be able to sleep at night knowing he turned the ISU athletics department upside down then just left before seeing it all through? It would not be a smart career move for JP to leave this soon. I know there is not much loyalty anymore in today's society but leaving ISU after all he's already got his hands dirty with to go back to Wisconsin would not look good no matter how you spin it. Anyone who replaces 3 head coaches in 3 major sports in such a short period of time is going to be looked at with caution if he was going to switch jobs in such a short period of time. We've all said the FB hire is JP's defining moment at ISU that could make or break him.

I'm not even sold that Alvarez is going to Miami anyways...

Talked to a guy that road the elevator down with Alvarez at Kinnick after the Wisconsin game. He asked Alvarez, 'you goin to Miami' his wife responded, 'only on vacation' he then asked about Mac. Alvarez said, 'don't worry bout Mac, he'll land on his feet and winked' Heard a week later that Shalala offered Alvarez a job, so who knows

I'm not worried about Mac at all. He's going to be someone's defensive coordinator at the least next year and probably at a major conference school too. If he's head coach then probably more mid-major conference.

After this ongoing mess with our FB coach search I wonder if some of the people that wanted Mac gone are second-guessing the decision now as I have not been impressed with the names coming up thus far. I'm hoping JP pulls out a wild card on this one and surprises us all with a great hire but I'm not holding my breath on that.

Last Time I Looked, A Name Doesn't Win Games

After this ongoing mess with our FB coach search I wonder if some of the people that wanted Mac gone are second-guessing the decision now as I have not been impressed with the names coming up thus far.

How has the coaching search been a mess? It seems to me Jamie Pollard has known who his coach was going to be since last Monday or Tuesday. Guys like Harbaugh, Norvell and Brewster were runnersup & given the chance to publicly withdraw. That is how the process works with any coaching search.

It seems to me finding a new coach within 1-2 weeks is damn fast. With Mac resigning during the season, there was NO WAY a new coach was going to be hired before this weekend. While ISU was still playing it would have been poor taste for Jamie to hire a coach. The focus needed to be on Mac & the seniors. If the new coaches team is still playing, it would be wrong for a coaching announcement to detract from what his current players where trying to accomplish.

Lastly, I don't care if the new coach has a big name or national reputation. What matters is he gets the job done on Saturdays. As Mac goes, he had 12 years to build a consistent program and couldn't get the job done. It is time that a new coach be given a chance to build a consistent program at ISU. IMO there isn't much downside compared to 0-8, 4-4,4-4 & 1-7.

Well maybe I used a bad choice of word with "mess" but everyone was all excited about Harbaugh and he's out, then came a split on Norvell, he's out, Brewster is out and now you have everyone wondering who is next and a lot of people not excited about Kelly. What I was sort of beating around the bush is if we hired Kelly, is that the "big hire" everyone was hoping for? Of all the names still being mentioned in the pot, none of them really excite me at the moment.
