Kansas State is our only conference opponent that we have a winning record against in the all time series. However, we are catching up on some others...

With wins over Baylor and WVU this year we would move both of those all time series to 0.500. If we beat TTU 3 straight we can even up that series. We are 4 games behind TCU and 6 behind Kansas... So, there's a chance that we have a winning record against over half the league in 6-7 years.

Looking at Matt Campbell's tenure only, we have a winning record against 5 of the 9 teams. We have a chance this year to get to 0.500 under Campbell against Kansas State and Texas.... If we beat OU twice we could even that series up as well. It would take 3 straight against OSU to even that up.

That all time record honestly looks a little better than I expected vs some of those teams.

ya... we would have bigger holes to dig out of if the rest of the Big 8 teams were still in the conference. Helps that our Pre-CMC history is not as long with some of these teams...

We were dominating the KSU series pre-Snyder. Since 1990 the are 25-6 against us and closed the gap by 19 games. Hoping CMC can do the same in some of these series for us!

If we beat OU twice each year we can even that up in 35 years... :D

I want to asap regain the series lead on Baylor and not relinquish. Win back a little breathing room in the KSU series, of course.

Eventually surpass KU -- odd in recent context how many W's it has taken to get back to within striking distance.

WVU has been even series, get a little leg up there, close gap on TT.

Why does Iowa State struggle with Oklahoma State? For whatever reason, the Cyclones always seem to drop games to the 'Pokes that were very winnable in the given year.

Baylor, West Virginia, and Texas Tech I think are all teams we should be above 50/50 against in 7 years. It is more than likely we will be above 50/50 against Kansas at that point too, unless somehow they become awesome very quickly. TCU is the team that I think is within reach but we won't get above 50/50 against in 7 years. Texas, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma are probably unreachable for the foreseeable future, but a few decades down the line (or centuries in Oklahoma's case haha) it might be a bit closer but we shall see.

yes... it will be tough to close the gap to get over 0.500 vs. 5 teams in the league:

KSU: +2, stay ahead
Bay/WVU:
-1, win next 2, than stay ahead
TTU: -3, this would take 4 in a row, or plus four over 6+ yrs (5-1, or 6-2 for example), do-able but need to be almost perfect (Matt Campbell is 5-0 so far)
TCU: -4, so need to get to +5; note that since year 1 (when we went 3-9, 2-7) Campbell is 3-1 vs. TCU.. so, possible to get to 6-1 over next 7 years but probably not very likely. TCU has also been down recently. So that could change. So, to catch TCU we would need to stay ahead and be pretty dominant... would need to be 8-3 over next 11 seasons.
Kansas: -6, Probably more likely to go 7-0 vs. kansas than 6-1 vs. TCU.. but 7 in a row against anyone is tricky... who knows, maybe kansas will have a decent team 5 yrs from now.

So, mathematically possible to be over 0.500 vs. 5 conf opponents in 5 yrs. Probably more likely in the 7+ year range, assuming ISU continues current growth. I think TCU will be the hardest to pass.

I agree with your analysis here. TCU will likely be the hardest to pass, but it is still possible. One of the other teams could suddenly get good too, or we could settle down to not being as good as well. But I think the future is bright. Many of these teams I think we will pass, it is just a matter of time.

Maybe my great grandkids can see ISU even the series against OU? Okay maybe not. We'll just restart the numbers at the beginning of 2020 so its 1-1 now.

Thank you for the all-time and Coach MC records data.

I've always thought the best way to judge a program's historical record is by each school under each coach against each other. So, a new coach (for either school) means a new starting point.

What happened when Earle Bruce, Tom Osborne and Barry Switzer were coaching means nothing today. Same goes for the Iowa State vs. K-State series. The moth ball days domination by Iowa State is meaningless today too.

Let's Go State!

Losing records to TTech and Kansas and Baylor stand out like sore thumbs.

Surprised that we have a winning record vs KSU and losing record vs ku
