When I got out of college I moved to Des Moines as a night stock manager at Hy-Vee. Jeff Cohn was one of the guys that worked on my crew along with his dad. I remember him leaving everyday by 4am so he could go to WHO (where he worked at the time). Nice guy but very quiet.

It was a big change in lifestyle going from the Cedar Falls Hy-Vee (yes I worked with Kurt Warner) filled with hot chicks to the East Euclid Hy-Vee at night dealing with meth heads.

Paycheck day at the eastside HyVee is always a good show.:biglaugh:

I, like 22, thought this was titled ON Mike & Mike...I about had a heart attack. I flip back & forth depending on the season. College basketball & football season is mostly Cotlar, otherwise Mike & Mike, except for Bogey Brother hour, I like that part of his show.

Cotlar is pretty much the worst sports talk radio guy I have ever heard next to Jim Rome. The only reason to listen to Cotlar is tha fact that he has pretty good guests for being a local des moines guy. Then again Mike and Mike have better guests and they are better at their job. Hanks down Mike and Mike.

Cotlar gets really old fast. Listening to his sidekick whine and push a sound effect button repeatedly with absolutely not adding anything valuable to the show is more than I can take most days. Larry begging for calls is priceless.

I'm not a huge fan of Cotlar but 'Mike and Mike' is so scripted. I can't listen to it. If you've heard one show, you've heard them all.

Steve Czaban is where its at. He's on from 5-8 and in Central IA you have to tune into Big Sports 590 out of Omaha to hear it.

I do like listening to Colin Cowherd in the late morning and Doug Gottlieb in the evenings. Soren Petro isn't bad out of KC from 11-2, 810 WHB. They have a fair amount of Big 12 talk.

I won't vote because I have never listened to Cotlar, but I do watch Mike & Mike on ESPN2 nearly every morning. I really liked them at first, but they're starting to get old. They have great interviews and discussions, but the whole Mike Golic is a big bully and Mike Greenburg is a scrawny wimp has run it's course. Plus, they seem to have the same gimmicks day-in and day-out. I mainly watch their show to listen to the interviews, not for what either of them have to say.

Greenie is a complete poos. Cotlar throws nothing but softballs. I listen to Czaben(sp) on Fox here in CR. He's funny, smart, and certainly isn't a poos. He's only on until 8:00 though.

I've gotta go with Mike and Mike. I've listened to Cotlar for 6 months and it's gotten old. What I do like about Cotlar is that he seems to bring up local sports much much more than Marty Tirell for example.

Marty gets all gung ho about certain athletes in terms of personal gain. For example, dissing the barnstormers because they aren't on KXNO, giving the Energy too much props because he worked for them but also to kiss up to Jerry Crawford. His most recent debacle is the whole Shawn Johnson thing. He said that EVERYONE would be talking about Shawn Johnson instead of football when football season would start... Yesterday he then tries to suggest that Lolo Jones might be a bigger story.

The thing I appreciate about Cotlar (even though I don't listen to him much) is that even though he endorses some products, or works for a particular team (Drake basketball), he doesn't slam anyone and generally wants all sports in Iowa to do well... The same can't be said about other KXNO DJs...

Tell me about it. It was crazy what those people would be willing to pay to cash their check. I never understood why they didn't just open a bank account.

don't really know much, or anything for that matter on Cotlar. But I am not huge on local sports talk shows unless they are mentioning my team. But I do enjoy watching Mike & Mike on ESPN2 for quite some time. They are an absolute GREAT pair of mismatched people. I love Golic's insight and inside looks on the games and Greeny's reporter/fan perspective at looking into issues. I hope that show NEVER ends, but I know someday it will either be retired when they do or they will try to keep it or a similar show running that will be VERY hard to replace.
