While l agree TJ has some glaring adjustment issues I think anyone saying he’s in over his head needs to step away from the ledge.

What’s even more glaring to me is we don’t have P5 caliber players. Especially in the post. Conditt and Jones aren’t aggressive enough on offense.

Our start was fools gold.

We have no true three point threat.

No three point shooting and no solid post game equals real bad. So limited.

Still a crazy turnaround from last year. I refuse to jump down TJs throat this despite our slide. It’s frustrating no doubt.

Just hope we can find a good post player and a couple shooters next year.

We are for sure playing on Wed in KC and I’ll be there at the game. Not expecting much though.

Here’s the thing, Iowa State often times is going to need to win with a cast consisting of at least some marginal P5 players. The difference is going to have to be coaching:
  • Player development
  • Scheme
  • In-game adjustments
  • Recruiting
TJ seems to be able to recruit, but the other three areas… it’s a small dataset, but right now, it’s concerning.

They're P6 players, they're just P6 role players who happened to jump ahead of other teams early in the year.

I am still struggling to reconcile our start with what we're seeing now. We didn't just look average, we looked pretty darn good. And now we haven't just reverted to average, we mostly look pretty darn bad.

I worried we were on a magic carpet ride in the preseason and we'd meet reality in the Big 12. But those first few league games proved we belonged. I suppose it could be as simple as having enough games under our belt to be adequately scouted, but I have to think something else is going on. We just look broken.

It's sad. I hope we can pull out of this freefall.

It's okay to be upset with him over this performance at home and still think he's going to be fine. NIT will be good in his first season; just the way it's played out has been agonizing.

There are some takeaways from today that TJ will need to learn from, but we know he can recruit and just have to get some more guys that can help create offense.

I don’t disagree with anything you said. After the loss at WVU it seemed clear we may have lost our legs. First half today looked fine. Then back to so many shots being short. I think we are just gassed.

I've thought that for weeks. And maybe it's that simple. Maybe today's first half was simply a little extra juice from playing at home and making some shots early, and then falling back to the tired team we've been for a few weeks now.

Last place teams don't make the NIT. Better win 2-3 more.

As much as I think TJ needs to make more adjustments, I still can't believe Div. 1 scholarship ballplayers can't figure out that when a team that is behind and has turned up their defense, overplaying passing lanes against you, that you can't continually keep throwing dangerous passes and many were turnovers leading to easy baskets for KState. Sure we lack shooters, but those turnovers were killers and way too many.
I think the teams early in the season didn't scout us well enough or didn't have the game plan to stop us like the big12 does. We didn't have a point guard today that could get to the basket or perhaps didn't attempt to enough. Our dribble drive weakness is obvious as we shoot very few free throws.
