Totally shocked this morning to hear CPR on local (Knoxville) radio. He was his usually energetic, positive self.

Best quote of the day: "When I got the Iowa State job everybody bragged about how we had the biggest O-line in the country--what we had was the fatest O-line in the country. We've changed that."

Not a complaint, just a question, but why would CPR be on Knoxville, TN, local radio?
The slant was interviewing coaches from other BCS conferences and coaches of teams UT will face this fall. This morning they had CPR, Tubberville and Rick Stockstill of MTSU on. The fact that CPR and Tubberville have SEC knowledge/ties probably made them a high priority. But the bulk of the interview was really about ISU and what CRP expects this fall.

It was a great PR move--exposes ISU to an area that has more D1 talent than Iowa.

What else did CPR say?
Probably stuff you've heard him say recently on midwest media--but here are the highlights.
1) Entering Fall camp basically healthy.
2) Looking forward to Fall camp opening so they can determine the starter at QB.
3) No doubt the deepest team he's had. Still have some work to do in terms of building more depth, but things are much better than when he arrived.
4) Feels this will be his best team so far.
5) Was asked about his "internet moments"--joked about the Wally World youtube. Says anything that elevates the awareness and image of the program, he's all for.
6) Says both offensive and defensive lines will be good--defensive line should be better than most people think.

Is there a podcast for this?
Not yet--but if you go to the sportsanimall99.com website, click on audio, then select the News Sentinal Sports Page. CPR was on the first couple of segments--roughly 10:05-10:20 am. The podcast probably won't be up until Tues AM.

If you're coming to Neyland Stadium, it's truly a sight to be hold. Unfortunately the quality of the product on the field is not up to Tennessee standards yet. Dooley has had a lot of rebuilding to do in the wake of Lane Kiffin.

We are going to need real good line play on both sides to compete with our schedule.

Agreed!

It was really interesting to hear Tubberville talk about Tech--said he inherited a team with no defense and the slowest team he has been associated with in over 15 years. Obviously he is coming from an SEC background.

But it reminded me of when I watch the Big XII generally and Iowa State specifically...still really slow. OU has some fliers as does Texas, but especially on Defense, the Big XII is at a speed disadvantage compared to the SEC.

No, they will be on the road, at Arkansas. I've seen Neyland but have not been in. It was huge but not great aesthetically. Still excited to see the Vol's, they are one of the last SEC teams I haven't seen.

That last team Tubberville had at Tech was not exactly good. Tech and Auburn have been pretty equal over the years. That SEC speed thing is the biggest line of crap going. A close second is how physical the Big 10 is.

Exactly. Elite teams have the most speed. Not every SEC team is elite (even though they think they all are). The big10 being physical is just a more positive euphemism for big and slow.

I figure Tommy was just using that excuse because he didn't come in to the lowly Big 12 and dominate right away.

Exactly, Tommy came in and did not perform as well as Leach and was trying to spin. Those kids in Texas are not fast as kids from Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, etc. give me a break.
