I hadn't heard about this story before and I just stumbled across this article. It's a long read, but it plays out like some trippy movie.

A snippet from the end of the article:

NINE PEOPLE WENT to prison for the kidnapping and torture of Kollias and his teammate. Three were sentenced for watching over the captives and acting as lookouts. Samantha Hughes and Leah Gigliotti pleaded guilty and testified against the others. They were each sentenced to more than a dozen years in prison. Three of the four men in the cellphone video recording of the torture, including Elliot Rivera, also pleaded guilty and were sentenced to 35 years in prison. During Lydell Strickland's trial in December 2016, prosecutors described him as the "ringleader" and "mastermind" of the plot. He laughed when a judge sentenced him to 155 years in prison.

Should have saved that for Friday as a little pick me up.

My god that's terrible, special place in hell for those dudes. Sometimes you wish for street justice on them instead of just rotting in jail.

Read that whole thing as every paragraph I found myself say "what could possibly happen next that connects these" Made it even worse that really the main guy in the story shouldn't even be in the situation but because he ran when they they came out to start jumping them, they felt that was sufficient enough.

Just a sickening story all around

Ya when I started reading it I was like this is way to long to read now, but as I got into it, it was just like WTF how is this still going. Can't imagine being that dude.

What blows me away is how many people went in and out of the house that weekend, and not one thought to call the authorities with an anonymous tip. Hell, when the SWAT unit busted in the two guys who came up with the whole idea had already bailed. The people there watching the hostages had absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose by being there.

Just a crazy and sad story all the way through.

Wow. Just wow.

Unbelievable the amount of carelessness some people have. They had no remorse whatsoever.

Glad both guys ended up ok, neither should have been in that situation.

Hard to understand how anyone could be motivated to do those types of things to other human beings.....of course, when drugs are involved, all bets are off. Sad to think that there are souls out there that are so lost......

Some people deserve to be tarred and feathered in this day and age. Lydell Strickland is one of those sick bastards.
