Hope CA pulls this off, it'll be great. But I also gotta give KState's student section props for their chant of "you're a flopper" to Kane. It was loud and very understandable thru the TV. Plus it may or may not have affected Kane in his first free throw.

I know Smart is way worse, but is it possible that we are being somewhat hypocritical with all these flopping allegations? semi :jimlad:

Chances are there will be a number of students who have no idea. If you could pass the word along I'd really appreciate it!

You will have plenty of time to walk around and tell people about it. It seems like you have done the most important part and built a solid base. Now, just build on it on game day.

P.S. This may be the single best thing done during the Big 12 conference season to get more students to attend.

A shade under 400 signed up with another 993 invited. So a ton of people who have signed up and know what's going on as well as a ton of people who have at least seen or heard about it. Along with the flyers I hand out before the game I think its more than a possibility. Getting a little more nervous as we get closer to the game. If we can find a way to get the "too cool for this ****" crowd to do it we'll be more than golden.

Also.. depending on the result and response that this gets from people, some friends and I are thinking about establishing a twitter and facebook account for next season. One that will run only on the ideas of students. No hierarchy. Just a handful of people facilitating ideas from and for "the people".

Do you know any of the CAC members? It seems like it would help if somebody could get at least one of them on board. If they think it is "partly" their idea, they might be more supportive ... or at least less resistant.

If you're referring the the flop, yes. I've been in contact with their facebook page. They posted about Smart and how we should do some signs and stuff to "welcome" him to Hilton, but not directly about the flop if I remember right. Couple of us linked the flop page in their comments though.

Can't find it on their timeline though. I also messaged them my rough draft instructions for the flop yesterday, but they haven't posted those.

I was thinking about a more personal interaction with them about the Flop. Surely someone on this site has a positive relationship with someone in CAC who could ask them to support what you are doing.

Completely forgot to check that.. I've got 18 retweets on it so far.. so if anything the word is being spread pretty well.

Oh and HOIBERG'S MOM RETWEETED ME. I'm cooler than you all now.

Here's my semi-final draft to the instructions:

Cyclone Alley FLOP

Please pass this information along to those who didn’t receive one

Marcus Smart has become well known for his “flopping†abilities. It’s time to make him feel right at home with a MASSIVE student section flop of our own.

THE FLOP: This will essentially be a very dramatic fall back into your seat and neighbors. Be sure to REALLY overdo it. Throw your arms into the air, yell and scream as you fall back (think about it as a reversal of the “sitting down to jumping up†free throw distraction), and act like you’ve been knocked across the face. These are methods we’ve learned from the legend himself; Marcus Smart.

WHEN:

INTRODUCTION: When Marcus Smart is announced during Oklahoma State’s starting line-up, we’ll replace *clap, clap, clap, clap, clap* “YOU SUCK!†with *clap, clap, clap, clap, clap* “YOU FLOP!†When we yell “FLOPâ€, we all FALL BACK! This is the most important one.

FREE THROWS: During select free throw attempts, we’ll be holding up the FLOP signs. Be sure to FLOP AS SOON AS THE REF GIVES HIM THE BALL. Flopping as he shoots will do little to distract him.

HOW IT STARTS:
At the front of each end of the student section, there will be a couple of large signs which read “FLOPâ€. These signs will be held up immediately before the team introductions to remind you to flop when Marcus Smart is announced. The signs will also be held up a couple of times during his free throw attempts, so if Smart gets to the free throw line, be on the lookout!

Also, a friendly reminder that it is senior night, so be sure to be loud and proud for our graduating seniors. Listen up for a “HANG HIS JERSEY†chant for Melvin, and some other chants for the rest of the seniors!

Getting as many people involved in this as we can is key. This thing has the potential to be incredible, and will undoubtedly make its way across the college basketball world and into some major news outlets..if we can pull it off. So please take part, pass the word onto your friends and those sitting around you, and (most importantly) help create the greatest Hilton experience possible for our graduating seniors!

Questions?
Check out the Facebook event page at “Cyclone Alley Flopâ€

Going to print these out in the next couple of days so be sure to let me know if something should be changed. And how many should I print?

Just a quick thought. It probably won't be the case but what if Travis Ford doesn't start Smart for this reason and puts him in at first dead ball? Like I said, I don't think Ford will do this but you never know with him.

Wait, are you suggesting Travis Ford wont start his best player in a critical game because he caught wind he would be heckled? I know Ford isn't exactly Phil Jackson, but seriously?

Does anyone have one of those fish mounted to the plaque that sings when you press the button and flops on the mount?

Should bring that and adhere a picture of Marcus Smart's face or body on the head of the fish.
