Going to Dallas for a guys trip and wondering where to stay? It looks like downtown dallas would be best? What are some good hotels? We were looking at Hotel ZaZa. Want to be close to the pub/restaurnat are in downtown.

Also we are going to Rangers games and a Cowboys game, but it doesnt look like there is much around the stadiums other then the stadiums.

Any advise or tips would be appreciated.

Set on Dallas? We were in Ft Worth a few months ago and the Sundance Square area is a cool place with lots of bars/restaurants.

Make sure you listen to 1310 The Ticket for your sports radio entertainment while there.

Downtown Fort Worth/Sundance Square = Laid back, almost like a mature college atmosphere.
Uptown Dallas = little more "upper-class" and more variety (although a lot of people are what we call $30,000 millionaires)

Both areas have their pros and cons. I live in Uptown and love it. You can find any type of bar/club you want. ZaZa would be the best location to stay for Uptown. You could walk almost anywhere, or take the M-Line streetcar (free). Or plenty of cabs along McKinney Ave.

There is absolutely nothing to do in Arlington near the stadiums, besides Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor (waterpark), and a few chain bars.

And if you're in town for a guys weekend, let me recommend Bob's Chop and Steak House. Rated 2nd best steakhouse in the country, and there are multiple locations across DFW. Reservations wouldnt be a bad idea.

That's where we were, but it was for a training so it was free.

I don't know anything about Dallas. Like anything, a fella can have a good time anywhere he wants to.

When in Arlington, you need to stop at Mariano's. It's a local family-owned Mexican restaurant, just off SH 360, so pretty close to the Rangers Ballpark and Cowboys Stadium.

Have the Cilantro Tilapia or Poblano al Carbon.

When I first interviewed in DFW back in 1994, my future boss took me there for lunch. He forgot his credit card, but they knew him so well there they just told him to stop by later and pay.

I've taken numerous guests there over the years, and have yet to find anybody who doesn't love the Cilantro Tilapia (it was better when it was Cilantro Snapper, but I guess fish prices/availability pushed them to use tilapia now).

They also have this awesome mesquite grilled salsa (for lack of a better description) that I have been trying to get the recipe to for years.

Legend has it that the owner invented the frozen margarita machine.
