Don’t know that there’s any other way to put it besides calling it a disappointment. #2 in the country, “final 4 contender” and then losing to K-State, Oklahoma State, and now this. Honestly, I don’t even know that I’d agree with those saying this was a fun season. What was the highlight?
I had fun watching Curtis in the Big 12 tourney vs BYU, had fun watching the comeback against BYU at Hilton though it fell short, had fun watching them against Auburn in the first half. Plenty of great memories this season.

It doesn’t just happen to ISU. But it doesn’t happen to final 4 teams either.

It isn’t like a guy sprained an ankle and was at 80% for a week. ISUs best player got hurt the first conference game and never recovered. Gilbert played but he was never close to the same, particularly in creating pressure, turnovers and transition offense.

And if you don’t understand that Gilbert was 100% the tip of the spear for everything ISU wanted to do, then you weren’t watching ISU basketball.
Lipsey seemingly was hurt all year, played through a broken thumb and significantly hurt for the final few. Gilbert hurt 1st conference game and only got worse as the year went on. Jones was ill and slowed down for a couple weeks there. Milan missed a chunk of time with a broken hand. It was a lot to go through in the conference season.

Do you think Houston wasn't final 4 last year without their injuries?
I think they were. Then the injury made them not a final four team any more.

Im arguing against people that somehow think having your best player get hurt is something a bunch of teams overcome.

Im just saying from watching Gilbert gimp around in the early conference season and never get right, my expectations for the team went way down. This wasn’t just another starter. He was the engine that made this team a potential final four caliber team, and he wasn’t right since December.

It's not that at all, when you are ranked in the top 10 most of the season, get up to #2 in the country, you expect to at least get through the first weekend. This was not a team hoping to get into the tournament and win a game, but one expected to make a solid run, which it did not do. I am sure the players and coaches are disappointed as well as the fans, but my question is "starting tomorrow, how are they going to fix it?" We need more mentally tough players, that do not let down, instead of players that are great when they are playing well, but disappear when it goes South.
Technically, the Southerners came North and kicked our collective arse!

Definitely fell way short of expectations. I realize injuries played a part but man so disappointing the last half of the season and today we didn’t even compete.

TJ needs to learn how to run set plays and get an easy basket when were struggling on offense and not just have players throw up 3s constantly.
I think all he wants is to be mentally tougher and more physical than the opponent, and if they are they will somehow find a way on their own.

He had 6 guys who played in the NBA plus McKay on that team. That teams result was major disappointment!!

Naz and Deonte didn’t play together that year at all. Naz had hip surgery and Deonte was ineligible until second semester.
