I'm not going to hear that we have to stay positive. We can say it this was a disappointing season. Pre season top 5 team and to lose the way we did in the round of 32 in a non-competitive game.

I not going to go as far as to start blaming the coach, players, or fans. Sometimes you just don't meet expectations and this year we most certainly did not.
Maybe over hyped due to close game with Auburn

I know I bought in. But Iowa, Dayton, Marquette, playing CU 3 times, kind of padded things.

Early on those teams looked okay, but I'm the end only Marquette had a pulse

Prohms first team had a terrible bench which hurt a lot.
But come on, they had 5 guys on that roster who logged NBA minutes (Morris, Niang, Thomas, Burton, Nader) and another who played in the G League (Naz Long).

Like, it should not matter what your bench is like when you’ve got 5 NBA guys on the court.

For that team to go 10-8 in conference play is nuts.

Depends on who youre playing against, that was like peak Big 12 meat grinder era and Prohm just sucked.

Yep, disappointing. We peaked at the wrong time and injuries killed us. Don't know if we'll see another final 4 caliber roster like we had this year with the NIL landscape.
I’m confident we can get a talented team again with Otz. Just gotta hit on some overlooked athletic mid major guys.
Save yourself the disappointment. Don’t buy into the football hype machine for next year.
I hope I’m wrong, but football is due for some regression next year. I could see early losses to Kansas State and Iowa.

I know I mean Fred handed him a team that went to the NCAA with an NBA guard. What did TJ get handed a 2 win team?
I’m not comparing the coaches. Comparing the 2 seasons and expectations. Prohm sucked ass and Otz is way better, nobody is denying that.

Good teams struggle with injuries, great teams overcome those injuries and other players step up and pick up the slack. This was a good team, nothing more, and will be a "what if" for many of us. You just cannot give up a 20-2 run and expect to come out on top. Call a time out or two, run a set play, whatever it takes to to not let the run continue. That was Fran coaching few moments and it buried us, allowed them to get confidence and we never recovered. ISU was a better teams than what we showed the nation tonight.
The Auburns & Dukes can just bring in another solid player. We don't have that kind of depth. Injuries hurt us more. We need to get a bit lucky with that.

And what did the Auburn game and on?

A weird turnover on ISU's last possession.

Seasons ebb and flow but sometimes trends follow you to the end.

But you only put 5 guys in the court at a time and we had 5 who played in the NBA. No other team that many NBA and G-League guys on their roster that year, including Kansas.

After being in the top 10 pretty much the entire length of the season I would say it’s super disappointing to finish fifth with big 12 and to get our ass kicked by the middle of the pack SEC team in the round of 32.

Other than that, hopefully we can get a couple players here and there and find a way to fix our offense from being stagnant. That is 100% or Achilles’ heel.

I am not talking about Duke, but teams like Houston and others that lost players and recovered, not worrying about what they did not have, but getting more out of the players they did have. It's not like we lost to a #1 or 2 seed here in Ol Miss, but a team that was seeded below ISU. I can handle losing, if we give it everything on the floor, but can you say we actually did that tonight? Great teams step up, we were far from doing that tonight, when Ol Miss went on their 20-2 run, we retreated and started throwing up shots from 3 instead of buckling down, going to our strength down low and making them pay and getting into foul trouble. We played right into their game plan, not ours.

Few things - we were just wildly inconsistent this year. The one trend that did follow us was being very turnover prone and poor rebounding.

Thinking of Auburn, Baylor, Arizona (home) and maybe a few others when we were clicking we looked like a legit Final 4 team but we never looked the part consistently. Granted injuries played into it but Houston, Auburn, Florida, etc were on a different level compared to us.
