Jackson is who he is - he is not making any big strides in the off season, what you got from him this year is what you will get next year which is why TJ and staff don't value him as high as the market will.
I get that he probably won't totally tranform himself as a player, but to think after a year of Big 12 play, playing in Kyle Green's defense, and having the luxury of an offseason of work - something he didn't get last offseason - he couldn't improve his game not insignificantly is somewhat short sighted.

I don’t understand the romanticizing by this fan base of guys that don’t cut it - particularly a mostly ineffective rental like Jackson. I don’t understand how it isn’t blatantly obvious to more people that some guys just don’t cut it and won’t ever cut it, and that we have a goal of maintaining momentum.

Dishon averaged around 20 minutes/game and no more because of a health issue. That would not improve.

He almost never could stay in front of his man outside of the lane and didn’t fill the defensive role that was needed. Almost always in quick foul trouble. An “offseason of coaching with Kyle Green” wouldn’t change his physical capabilities.

His hands are not good.

His IQ lacked.

Just not a talented guy, and didn’t give us the edge we needed to get over the hump.

And more importantly - can’t stress this enough- TJ didn’t renew him, a first for one of his starters in this portal era. Don’t come at me with Caleb Grill bullsh*t, that was behavioral.

Dishon may very well get in the ballpark of $1,000,000 in the portal. To say "just not a talented guy" is downright disrespecful. Be better. He was the starting center on a team ranked inside the top 5 in the country for the majority of the year.

I think it is pretty simple. If this was ten years ago, of course TJ would have love to have him back. Clearly though we have limited NIL resources and TJ knew we would not be willing to come close to matching what he is going to get on the open market. We have more pressing needs. I also think we are going a different direction from an offensive standpoint. TJ wants an efficient scorer on the block to pair with Jefferson in the high/low game. I just do not think that was Dishon's strength.

6'11" 280 that moves as well as Dishon doesnt grow on trees though. I wish him well. I think he can play pretty much anywhere in the country. He will get to pick his role.

Define “trashing”
Just my input. I believe we should have nothing but nice things to say to these players and wish them well for the sweat and dedication. But, sadly, there are so many couch coaches with little to no inside info or expertise on the team that offer opinions which can only hurt a players self esteem. I find it difficult to believe players don't read these boards. And the mere fact so many people hide behind the anonymity as a means to offer disparaging opinions is one of the saddest changes to our world.

What a world it would be if all paid athletes - hell, let’s extend it to celebrities or anybody of high profile - were only told how wonderful they were. You’re describing a utopia and it sounds like something a 4 year old would say.

“Prentiss, I really liked how, um, you kept shooting today even though you were 2/15. Please stay confident and we love you because you try real hard and you’re a Cyclone thus infallible heart eyes emoji”

The internet anonymity thing is a whole different can of worms.

What he may get paid says much more about the ridiculous free-for-all market than his skills.

He’ll be an average Euro guy at best. Agree to disagree on “talent”.

Appreciate his efforts and what he did for the university. Just calling a spade, a spade

He's nowhere near 7 figures

Blum said on the latest podcast that he may actually be close to $1m. It’s a crazy market right now.

I of course don’t know what “close” means exactly.

Absolute insanity. 3 years ago the 2 or 3 top players in the market were getting that. Now a depth piece in the P2 does. Insane.

And without a draft or trading system, the insanity will just continue. We must understand that we are in the infancy of a semi-Pro system.

Ya. Going to start seeing some multi year contracts soon, and then contract hold outs. Not sure what comes after that.

You know better than Blum?
No. But I think it's overblown how many players are getting that much. We Will had a $5M budget last year across all sports. There's probably less than 30 basketball players getting 7 figures

While the current state of college athletics is evolving, they are still kids. And even if they weren't this insensitive tough as nails type of person you're suggesting they should be, it still is exactly what I see wrong with our world. No empathy. No respect. No consideration. I don't care if they make a billion dollars, there's still no room for this type of negativity. BTW, you could have conveyed your point without the 4 year old comment.
