You know who they are...the New York Yankees, the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Kentucky Wildcats, the New England Patriots, etc.

Do you hate them? If so, why? If not, why not? Does it depend on the team, or do you generally dislike them all?

For me, I've never had the disdain for the Goliaths that a lot of other people seem to, and I think the reason is twofold. One: I have to respect a team that achieves something as great as, say, winning nearly one of every four World Series. Two: without Goliath, there's no David. Continuing to use the New York Yankees as an example, it's hard not to admire their success; it's absolutely incredible. When I try to be impartial, there's just no way to not be impressed by what they've been able to accomplish. And because they've accomplished so much, it's so fun to watch them play virtually anyone because it creates so many storylines. The Arizona Diamondbacks winning the 2001 World Series wouldn't have been be nearly as cool if they hadn't taken down the mighty Yankees.

I'm really thinking about this year, if (when) ISU wins the Big 12 conference title outright. I don't think it'll be nearly as special if it didn't end Kansas' run of 11 straight, and for that, you've got to be a little happy that Kansas exists.

If they're a relatively "clean" team (i.e., not much in regards to steroids or recruiting scandals or blatant cheating) then no, I don't hate them. And every team has its outliers or a player or two who go rogue. The NYY kicked everyone's *** for years and on the field, were pretty clean and by the book (A-Rod being an exception that comes to mind), and I can respect what they've accomplished. The Patriots? At least since Belichick has been there has been one scandal after another it seems, so I'm not going to pull for them anytime soon.

I am a Bulls fan and was through their 90s run, being born in the area and they were always on TV.

No franchise is 100% without faults or without a shady time period. When it's systemic and lasts several years, it's an issue.

While I don't hate them, I don't root for them either. Talking about teams like the Yankees, Patriots, tide.

Only two sports teams at any level that I despise and actively root against are the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers.

I don't hate most of them, but I do root against them. I do get annoyed at bandwagon fans and think I'm a better fan for being loyal to Iowa State than someone in my situation who chooses to cheer for Alabama because they win all the time.

I had your mom Las night and while she's big I wouldn't call her a "goliath".

Usually I cheer for the underdog or team with the least history. I despise winner-bandwagon or entitled fans.

Yankees trying to buy championships with biggest bankroll is also a reason to cheer for others to beat them.

Used to hate on 'Bama back when Bear was there and they seemed to win championships against lesser schedules, but not so much any more.
