My daughter runs cross country and her coach wants her to train for the mn state sectionals this weekend, we will be in ames for the game and I thought it would be neat for her to use the indoor facility to do her running. She is an 8th grader running varsity which her mom and I are very proud of....any input on how to pull this off would be great.....thanks in advance.

You do need an ID to get in for 'free', but I'm pretty sure you can also just get like a day pass or something since she's not a student.

I think its $5 or $10 bucks for a day pass for non-students.

I wanna say I paid $10 a couple years ago, then someone told me they lowered it ... its all very fuzzy.

they'll probably have basketball set up on the big lower track ... upstairs is like 5.5 laps to a mile, if that bothers her.

Thanks for the input...we will use the cross country facility....thanks for the quick responses all!!!

the "facility" is just a grassy field and a mile through the woods - its nice for what it is, but don't be expecting a structure of any kind.

Lied Recreation Athletic Center : Rec Services

Day Pass is $6, but you must be over 18 and accompanied by an "eligible user" (student/faculty/staff/etc).

I spent four years paying to build this facility, risked my knees and ankles for 3 months breaking in the rubber floors after it opened(always left with the shoes covered in red dust--kinda like playing tennis on a clay court, you slid to a stop), then I had to keep my student ID in my wallet 2 years after graduating so that I could get in the building any time I came back to visit friends.

Rant over.

The Rec has become huge D-bags about the cards and scanning!! I remember coming back to visit and just flashing my card after graduation, then sometime in '06 I think they started this whole scanning deal! ******* jag offs!!
