Prohm 2 wins his last season. Campbell 1 win his last season. This was a sad day for Cyclone football. We will not beat any Power 5, Big 12 football team with how we played today. 1-11 record for 2023. Say, Goodnight Gracie.

I'm done at this point. He did an excellent job of building the program and gave us the best 5 year stretch in school history but hes entered the death spiral at this point and he won't recover.

It's a shame to see such solid defense wasted the last 3 years.

Anybody know have any idea how it got this bad? Just 2 years ago we had a bunch of NFL players back coming off a Big 12 and Fiesta Bowl title and now we look like the worst Power 5 team in the country.

It's so hilarious to just **** your pants for hours and then blow up when someone says "hey did you **** your pants?" Granted, dumbass thing to be yelling at a coach, but still, gotta be above that when you say a lot less during a game with a couple iffy calls. (Shouldn't have mattered, but didn't seem nearly as animated after the "missed" FG, etc.)

The hyper-conservative lean on offense has been a problem for years, but was masked by NFL talent everywhere but the O-line. Without multiple NFL guys, it's been about the worst in the country.

I knew today was cooked when the broadcast started and they talked about "how Matt Campbell really wants his team to control the game and pound the rock today." ISU hasn't in my lifetime and likely never will recruit O-lineman at a high enough level to dictate games like that. If you go up early, sure, lean on the run game, but in what world does ISU come out and hand it off 40 times behind a dominant offensive line? It's just not reality, it's a tough-guy fantasy that needs to be forgotten if CMC is gonna get out of this hole.

No creativity on offense?

He SO badly wants to be as conservative or more conservative than his hero Kirk Ferentz. It makes me sick to my stomach how stubborn and conservative he is. Don't go out there and try to win the game... just try not to F up. Such a loser mentality. All our guys play scared too death of messing up... and that causes them to mess up.
Yep. Saw it and called it years ago.

I remember the days when I was this this kind of a delusional fan. Then in 2005 we went 7-5 with a team that should have at least won 10 games, and in 2006 we went 4-8 (1-7) with a team that nearly every preseason magazine had us winning the North comfortably. A "McCarney can do wrong" kind of fan finally hit his breaking point and I finally had to jump off the bandwagon.

I have seen this story play out too many times at ISU: coach wants to prove he's the smartest person in the room and refuses to change when it's clear that what he insists on sticking to isn't working because the game has changed around him, leaving him behind.

The forced firing of Manning last year was a mandate that things had to change. Instead, Campbell has doubled down on the gutless conservative gameplans that don't work. If he was mandated to change and refused to change, that's a coach that shouldn't be coaching.
Opposing coaches will sooner or later figure you out and game plan accordingly.

It'll happen sooner in a power conference with better coaches obviously. And then a coach needs to adjust after that or he won't have long term success.

I'm still waiting for Campbell to adjust here. The word's been out for a while now on how to game plan our offense.

I am a bit of a homer, but I'm still holding out hope. This has to be a major wake-up call and hopefully something that motivates the team with conference play starting next weekend.

My take is that he has to show some willingness to change by the end of this season. Something has to change in execution and play calling.

If this is more of the same the rest of the year. He has to go. This is horrific coaching.

That guy is definitely being a loser. There is a difference between yelling that in the stands and yelling it right next to Campbell. The latter is across the line imo.

With that said, it is not usually a good sign of the mood around the program when players have to stop their coach from confronting a fan.
That’s fine but coach needs to keep on going don’t need to make excuses for his frustration too
