Yeah I saw that too. I also wonder if he was the one who called the Hogue in bounds press that got Baylor to use their last time out?
I mentioned this exact same thing to my father-in-law after the game. Brilliant call. The guys on the bench were yukkin' it up big time, too!! Also, I doubt that Drew learns from this. : )

I don't think we'd be celebrating a Big 12 title if it weren't for Doc. In fact, I think we'd only be about a 6 seed. His coaching was very important in a lot of close games this year. Well done Doc.

How true, he has made the difference.
It takes TWO GOOD Coaches to mold a Championship team.
Our cyclones are RELENTLESS!
Thanks DOC!

He got a huge ovation from the crowd when he went to cut down his part of the net. I wouldn't blame him one bit if he left for a head coaching job, but I think he knows how much this fan base loves and appreciates him and if he wants, he'll be here for a long time.

Our defensive guru with our offensive genius could be a great combo for awhile. Love it!

Scott Drew might have been as upset about losing his last time out as he was about losing the game. Baylor knew it was over after Hogue's play.

Let him know on Twitter. He plays on it now and then.
Hope he doesn't leave for a small college opening and stays with us a while.
He flat out makes us better.
If last years team had him the ceiling would have been the limit.

Great Post and I agree re Doc Sadler, I have always liked Doc and thought him to be a very good coach.

Fred and Doc make a formidable team.

Looks like Bill Self could have used a defensive coach this year....whooops....twocoach coming....
KU was in their biggest rebuilding year under Self. Had more freshman minutes played than ever before at KU. Still won another title for the third time in 10 years with 5 new starters. Don't think Doc would have made a difference at KU this year. Doc was well respected at KU and while at Nebraska as an opponent. Think it shows now that he may be a better fit where he is at ISU unless he desires a mid Major job. KU looked elsewhere as in J. Howard to coach and bring so much more in the recruiting game. J. Howard will be very successful. Think Doc is perfect at ISU for the defensive side complimenting Fred's offensive mind.

He wasn't a coach at KU. He was director of BB Operations. That is a non coaching job, they have very limited contact with the players.

Doc also compared to last year has been making the final minutes call on whether to foul or just play it out on defense, we have avoided the catastrophe's of last years end game theatrics with his knowledge. It seems in my mind he has transformed our team into a closing team in tight end game situations compared to years past.

OK, and some help from Naz-ty Long

What I meant to say was even if he had been a coach on defense, it wouldn't have mattered much. Although he did sit on the bench at KU, I'll bet he was yelling some advice to the kids. Talked with him a few times and is a great guy and a great addition to the ISU staff. He also was amazed at how much he learned about the game in his short time in LarryTown.

I am not sure we have the boosters here to play that game though.

Seriously, does any single play symbolize DH more than that 3 seconds? Dude is just a straight up warrior.

3rd game in 3 days, closing minutes, players are gassed and he just said F it, you're my *****. that might be my favorite play of the entire season.

Hogue doesn't get the spotlight, but I agree with Musberger. He should have been on the all-tournament team. He brought the hammer.

I think Doc has done an outstanding job with this defense, especially with in-game adjustments. He recognizes what needs to be done and gets the players to buy in. I also have to hand it to CFH....during games you can see he is getting a lot of input from Doc, and CFH is listening. That's a good thing, imo.

The decision to move Kane to Chery was obviously a good one. Kane shut him down.

So much going on tonight, glad someone remembered Doc, he did a fantastic job, also props to Fred for being sure enough of himself to bring in veteran coaches to augment his coaching.

Doc Sadler ALWAYS got more out of his players at Nebraska than anyone ever had a right to expect. He has done the same thing with this ISU team. I seriously doubt the ISU Basketball team would be where they are today without the input and services of Doc Sadler this year.

On behalf of myself, and many other Cyclone fans, let me officially say Thank-you Doc.

I see Hogue this year and next as being a more defensive version of Niang last year and this. He doesn't get talked about a lot this year, but he's using these tourneys to make a name for himself and it will pay off with much more attention on him next season. He's cemented himself in the starting lineup next year. I think Naz and Thomas will fight for the two (if Thomas improves his shot over summer, I think Fred would prefer to use Naz like he has been this last few weeks) and Nader and McKay will be duking it out for one starting position. A lot of people had Hogue not starting next year, but I think he's more than earned himself a major role for this team.
