Has anyone else watched Dear Zachary on Netflix? A great documentary but absolutely infuriating.

i read the wiki on it, too. so i know what happens in the end. is the really that bad once you know how it ends already?

the reason i ask is i watched MaM a few weeks back and I knew how it ended so it was kind of boring. interesting but boring.

I can't imagine it being as powerful if you know what happens going in.

I've recommended this documentary to a few people and the first thing I tell them is to NOT Google it or do any kind of reading up on it beforehand.

Total systemic failure on the behalf of Zachary. Mystifying how the decisions to let her walk free and have her child were made. The psychiatrist had to have been a total quack to not peg her as a sociopath, and I wonder if he had been carrying on an inappropriate relationship with her.

I thought the same thing. The guy dropped $65k on her bail, doesn't get much more unethical than that. Complete sleaze.

That was ******* soul crushing. After it was over my roommate and I just sat there in silence for a few minutes.

Glad I googled this, no effing way am I going to watch any of this.

If this were a movie in the theater my reaction would have gone something like this:

It's brutal, no doubt, and I can't really blame you. But at the same time it's a pretty powerful and moving tribute by a really, really good documentary filmmaker to his best friend.
