Does Anyone Else Just Not Really Watch the Games Anymore?

I've tried to watch and stay engaged, but it is too difficult lately. I've seen good ISU teams "struggle" but win in games that should have been lopsided. You can see the same lack of focus from opponents that allow this team to sometimes be in games, but you ultimately know what the outcome will be.

Luckily I paid for NBA league pass and can watch a cyclone play 20+ minutes every night of the week.

I'll watch the Baylor game t'nite because I want to see an elite team.
I doubt I'll watch the TCU game Sat. I've missed watching more games this year than I have in 44-yrs (I missed a bunch of the 1975 games my Frosh yr 'cuz it was equally bad).

I watched a little bit of our last game against Oklahoma when I saw that we had pulled it close and even had gone ahead for a bit ...and then was pretty much immediately reminded why I haven't watched an MBB game since December of 2020. It was the same old:

- Go down big initially
- Pull within 5 or maybe even take a less than 5 lead
- lose in a fiery storm of a bazillion turnovers and just overall mismanagement on Prohm's part

I used to be much more of a basketball fan than a football fan and used to watch or listen to every MBB game I could and now that's completely reversed. I'm at the point where I hope we lose out the season because I think that's the most realistic scenario in which Prohm would be canned which at this point is just the best thing for this program in the long-term (and trust me, before 2020-21 I would NEVER have been this apathetic that I'd unironically think losing out would be the thing that would save the program)
No. Blah for meh.

it's kind of hard for most when we get regulated to ESPN+ anymore.. were not good enough to even get a primetime network game vs #2 in the country..

They sucked me in last night with that Baylor game. I typically turn it on and stop watching when they are down. I remember when I use to plan my week around basketball games, now I really only have it on if I’m home or not doing something else.

The wife wanted to go out for some tacos last night. When we got in the car I checked the score and said, "Oh wow, Iowa State's winning at halftime."
She says back, "You agreed to go out to eat with me when Iowa State was playing? You must really love me!"
This was the first game in the past few years I can remember not watching or listening to a majority of.

I didn't have it in me to tell her that this uninspiring team and staff made the choice a lot easier.

ESPN+ is the devil. We also have arguably the worst basketball coach in D I. This has been the least watched ISU basketball season of my life.

If you're anything like me instead of running with the "you must really love me" thing and gaining some goodwill, you ranted to your wife for 15 minutes about Prohm's lack of in-game adjustments.

Oh, she's heard a few of those. Last night I luckily had a moment of lucidity and just said "Yeah!"

Have 6 season tickets. Went to the Tech beat down at Hilton this year. Only game I’ve watched from beginning to end this year. Haven’t been back and won’t this year. Will maybe watch 5 minutes of a game if I have nothing better to do and even then I sometimes forget there’s a game.

The Florida A&M debacle last season was what killed my current interest in ISU basketball. Family and friends have been getting free tickets to watch garbage basketball since that game.

I echo the same sentiments as others. I never missed a game as a student (last year of Larry and Morgan years). Living out of Iowa now, I planned my schedule to watch every game during the Hoiball era. Those teams were so much fun to watch.

Sadly, I've gradually watched less and less over the last few years. After the Iowa beatdown and Florida A&M debacle at Hilton last year, I checked out. I haven't watched more than a handful of minutes total since. There have been a lot of times this year I would not have known we had a game had it not been for CF. I did see the highlights of last night's Baylor game - first I have seen all season. I feel bad for the players, I really do. I'm just glad most fans can't be at Hilton this year due to Covid. It would be a travesty to see that place 80% empty because of the apathy that has set in. Prohm has to go - it's the only way to sell any kind of hope for the future.
