Hey crew - here is my recap from todays dual.

I know a loss sucks but today was still solid in a lot of ways I think. I’m very excited for Paniro Johnson. Swiderski is going to be a beast. As he continues to grow and clean up the mistakes he’s going to be a serious problem. Yongers antics were entertaining from a rivalry standpoint but coach said it best when he said that he needs to reel that in a bit.

Hoping to have full press conference video this evening once it’s shared by the athletic department.

I shared a few clips and a few videos during the dual on my twitter.

I’m driving back to central Iowa now! Wish me luck on this boring drive. I’ll have photos this evening.

Hope you enjoyed your first wrestling meet in Carver. Would have been nice to get a win, but plenty of excitement.

I honestly had the best time. It really is an incredible atmosphere and I hope as interest builds that Hilton can even compete a little bit with this next year. It was so much fun. I did not want the dual to end. A win would’ve been the best case but just in general the wrestling was good and the atmosphere was awesome.

I know there was drama and antics but it all felt right. It wasn’t really anything like last year where there were clearly lines crossed. Just felt like what the rivalry had been missing.

I don't mind a little trash talk, but I could do without Bastida's tongue wagging. It was awkward. Kiss was fine. We've seen worse from them. Swiderski was frustrated and obviously intensely competitive. I think he can beat Woods if they meet again.

Yep Yonger coulda blown that match wide open if he woulda stuck to wrestling during the match.

I have Casey winning in a rematch of course Iowa fans already claiming Woods wins by 4-5 if they meet again lol because Casey has no offense to get to woods (forgetting there was only 1 takedown and it came from our guy)

Not exactly sure.
So what happened when terry ran over before the meet was over since hawkeye fans say he ALWAYS does that, even though I’ve never seen him do it in any other dual.

Re-newing the environment in Hilton during wrestling would be awesome! I long for duals of 12k+ people in attendance inside Hilton.

That is why we need to keep improving in March. While each individual dual is fun for the 2 hours you are in there, they don’t mean much to the potential recruits. They want to be national champs so they gravitate to schools that can help them do that. The good wrestlers will create the duals excitement from being good.

So as much as betting Iowa is nice, it means nothing compared to nationals.

I stand corrected. The first Pagliais was opened in Ames as Pizza House In the 50’s. They expanded to Grinnell in the 60’s.
went to SIU carbondale for grad school. there is a "pags" there as they call it. they pronounce it as spelled with a hard "g" instead of a silent "g". they all thought i was the idiot.

Woods was stalling the entire match but that official wanted nothing to do with the actual rules

Packed Hilton and the Armory surpass that venue for wrestling.

I found it interesting that Woods seemed to be able to get to his offense but couldn't score on Casey.
