Tennessee needs OT to beat Appalachian State
Mississippi State loses to South Alabama
Missouri loses to West Virginia
Arkansas down early to Louisiana Tech
Texas A&M down early to UCLA
LSU scoreless with Wisconsin, but LSU only has 7 total yards in first quarter

That is the mighty SEC for you.

The unfortunate part is that even if they lose all of these games, it's too early in the season. They'll move them back up once they're playing SEC games. I'm always amazed how a bad loss doesn't affect the SEC teams come bowl/playoff time, yet will affect other conferences.

I know...it is annoying.

Preseason rankings feeding into the echo chamber of the SEC (and B1G for that matter) in the BCS era, getting average* teams into National Title games, combined with winning those games for many consecutive years while playing no one else...that'll give you that latitude.

*yes, some of those teams may have been legit title contenders
