With the amount of complaining that he and Kane do to officials, I'm surprised it took this long for one of them to get a T. Don't get me wrong, I love both of those guys, but they need to just play basketball. Before Ejim got the T, he was guarding the guy at the top of the key. The guy may have got away with a little shove, and Ejim turned to the ref to complain, and the guy blows past him into the lane. You CANNOT turn to the official to complain while the ball is still in play. Ejim and Kane do this a lot. Hoiberg needs to address this. What if it happened at some point where it cost us a game? Sorry for the negativity after a big win, but this is something that has bothered me all year.

As smart as he is in the classroom, he was an idiot on that play. You can't get a T for your fourth foul with that much time left in the game. Stupid, stupid play by Mel.

Why did Hoiberg keep him out so long? If he was making a point, he did it at a cost of Ejim's stats.

Yeah, that play annoyed me.

That said, I don't think technicals should count as personal fouls. There's already a limit on T's and all don't involve contact with another player.

Yeah, the complaining doesn't work and probably works against you more than anything. Luckily the other guys stepped up.

Kissing their butt and stroking their ego works better. Eduardo Najera (sp?) used to massage the refs, literally give them a neck and shoulder massage, worked well for him, got tons of calls.

I thought one of their guys was worse when he got his fourth, but I guess they weren't going to boot him.

I guess I disagree with everyone on here.

How many absolutely **** calls have hosed us this year? I personally can't think of any.

How many absolutely **** calls hosed us last year?

I think the complaining, though it can hurt, actually keeps the officials from ******* us over. They know we're watching.

Poor judgement from Melvin there, really no excuse from a senior at that point in the game.

On a tangent, I'm much more concerned about our continually poor free-throw shooting. We only shot 47% tonight, with Georges missing 5 of those himself. I know it hasn't cost us a game during this hot streak we've been on for the whole month of February, but if we're in a tight game against a #14 or #13 seed in the Big Dance and keep on bricking the freebies it's going to make my blood pressure skyrocket.

Yeah, he shouldn't have gotten it, but after seeing what their big bruiser was able to get away with after getting called for a foul, he thought they would never T him up.

Bottom line is that if two teams play equally well in Big 12 game, the refs will likely decide it one way or another. It's not going to be consistent, or even, or fair. It's a crapshoot or worse. The solution? Be down right better than the other team. And don't give up freebies like Ejim did on that technical.

We don't play like every possession is critical, because that's not our style. We don't run the shot clock down while methodically looking for the best shot possible. And that's fine. But we can't be the same way with fouls and especially technicals. Those are so key. I feel lucky that we pulled this out with how long Melvin was on the bench. All because he wanted a word with the ref, which has never and will never get you anywhere anyway.

They need to start pretending the refs aren't even there.

Lol, this is in the running for post of the year. You should ask Fred this on the call in show. But Fred! What about the stats!!!!!!

It is good for our program to have Ejim having good stats . . . and finishing the year with First Team Big 12 honors. Another 40+ point game would guarantee it. This game was a big step back. Fortunately, we will get to see vintage Ejim in the Big 12 tournament.

I'm not saying don't get on the officials. Just be smart about it. Don't let a guy drive right past you just because you were unhappy with a no call.
