Pollard should hire him to the athletic department. Maybe the best Iowa State football player ever- next to Matt Blair.

I hope, if he wants, that we find him a job here at ISU. Nothing better than having our guys come back and keep making an impact. He was great in college and the NFL, and now he has a chance to continue making an impact in the sport similar to when Hoiberg retired for health reasons.

Either way, best of luck to Ellis!

Hate to see him have to retire, but glad he is taking care of himself. I wish him the best!

It's really too bad. I always really liked watching Hobbs play.

We need to sign him up as a grad assisstant. Then whenever Wally retires we can shuffle around Bobby Elliott to linebackers and make Ellis the DB's coach.

Loved Ellis. One of my all-time favorite Cyclone athletes. I'll never forget how crushed I was when he announced where he was from on MNF by mentioning his "DeLasalle High School" instead of ISU. I get it, and understand, but when he said ISU the next time instead of his high school I was so proud that the nation got to see that he was a Clone.

I wish him all the best, and hope that he comes back as a member of the staff in some way. I can only imagine how good he would be at interacting with recruits and players. He's a great man.

Sorry to hear it, but he had a good run in the NFL. One of my favorite ISU football players, and it always tore me up having to root against him when he played for the Patriots.

Ellis was a guest at ESPN studios before the NFL season started and I remember him mentioning on Cowherd's show that his goal after retiring from the NFL was to become an animator at Disney. I don't know how talented he is, but that guy has so much passion that I'm sure he'll accomplish all of his goals.

If he doesn't end up at Disney, I hope we hire him and turn him loose in Texas recruiting for the 'up and coming Iowa State'. He would be a natural.
