College football's Way-Too-Early 2011 Top 25, Take 2 - ESPN

Big 12-
1. Oklahoma
10. Oklahoma State
12. Texas A&M
19. Texas
21. Missouri

Questionable-
3. Florida State- Losing their starting QB and ranked in the top 5?
14. Notre Dame- Still don't see it
19. Texas- Not with Garrett Gilbert at QB

Its because of who they are.....simple as that.

I agree though, I dont think ND is top 25 material yet and Texas' postition is alright to me because you know they are always bringing in kids who will compete at a high level right away.

FSU=Ridic.

Surprised to see Mizzou in the top 25...

Yeah Mizzou surprised me too. With them losing Gabbert and having a back up who hasn't proven he can pass, but I think they return a lot of their starters. They do also lose their best defensive player though.

MIzzou is a surprise, they were right in that 20-25 range last year IMO. I can't see them being any better.

I'm usually not a fan of Schlabach, but I like his projected top 25 outside of the FSU pick...wayyyy too high on them.

Alabama might also be a bit high. They lose quite a bit. I know they rebuild, but their losing their top three Offensive weapons, and I think I'm the only one in the world that doesn't think Trent Richardson is all that impressive.

I agree, Bama is a running "system". I can't stand it that players on passing teams are the only ones who don't get credit for their stats based on them being "system" players. It's far more common for RB's to put up inflated numbers because of the way their teams play. Bama is a prime example....Iowa is another

Mizzou ranked?
Texas is ranked because of their name. I don't care how much talent they have, make them earn a ranking, don't just give it to them because they are Texas.

Same with ND too....they didnt really play anyone last year....like always....and they barley had a winning record last year (I think)

Just wait, Lou Holtz will pick ND as his National Champion preseason pick. As usual.

I don't know that FSU is top 3 material, but they're definitely top 10. Losing Ponder is huge, but I really don't think they see any drop off at all with E.J. Manuel. He's proven multiple times, including their last two bowl games that he's a stud. Couple that with the fact that they return a ton of talent on defense and a manageable ACC scedule, and FSU is going to make some noise next year. Especially with their highly ranked recruiting class, it's a good time to be a Seminole.

No surprise. Him and his Coke bottle glasses. He needs to get off tv.. I can barely understand what he says anymore. All that spit that comes out of him mouth...I wonder how many times during College Football Final, Espn has to wipe off the camera lenses.

In Swakeye Land, that is probably where they THINK they should be! :twitcy:

Not one Iowa fan I know, and I know plenty, has said they deserve to be in the preseason top 25 this year. And I have to agree with them. I think they'll be good, and have the talent to potentially finish the year in the top 25.

Nahhhh......I dont think so.

They have alot of holes to fill on D and on offense.

Time will tell.

All I know is that this year will be our best chance so far in the Rhoads era to bet EIU.
