This story is getting a little played out, but I will always have fond memories of Eustachy. I never heave the heart to throw out my Larry Ball t-shirt.

He was a good coach for ISU and I miss him being with us. It would have been great if he'd have been able to come back to coach ISU, and maybe there's still time. Addiction is a terrible thing.

Edit - but if one thing hadn't led to another we'd never have had Dreamy, so... things happen for a reason.

Also, would never want him back. I don't understand how any Cyclone fan could want to go back in time adn hire Eustachy or McCarney. It's over. Going back would be embarrassing.

Eustachy is a fantastic coach. Wouldn't be embarrassing. We'd be hiring a former coach that had success here

Eh, i wouldnt call it embarrassing but youre probably right that time has passed and probably best for all to move on. Who knows how long he wants to keep coaching anyways. If he had come back he'd be very well received, it'd be a great redemption story.

There's a pretty big difference in hiring back Eustachy vs McCarney. McCarney was fired due to results which would of course be silly to hire him back. Eustachy was fired for an issue that he has since resolved.

I will always have fond memories of those days. Good times. Glad we are where we are, but can't forget the past.

I can't take that kind of basketball. Love LarBear, loved his teams, but that time is past.

Agree. Love him to death. I was in the camp of not firing him (every basketball game I've played since then, I've created a #21 and sat him on the bench so deep that he'll never see play time), have fondly followed him every step since.

But man am I glad we're not playing that style of basketball any longer.

Larry gave us something special at ISU. Those things are not an "everyday occurrence". For that I will always be grateful for his time here.

I liked Larry a lot. And it all went down weird. But even if he hadn't "Natty-lighted" himself out of here, it would have gone down in a ball of flames, eventually.

Hmmmm...I'd actually say it may have been my favorite style Iowa State played. Rugged defense and plenty of offense with the right players.

I could watch a game and feel comfortable if they were up by 4 with a minute left.

That said, yes, the time has passed and coming back only works for someone like Bill Snyder.

He had some major issues, for sure. I'll always like him not only for what a couple of his teams accomplished, but for believing that that the ingredients exist at Iowa State to win a national title in men's basketball (namely, Hilton atmosphere/fan support).

im happy with prohm but Larry would have came back in a heart beat.

Not sure that would have been best for this year's team. LE may not have kept in place Fred's offensive philosophy like Prohm is doing which would have made the transition much harder for the team. At the same time, our defense may have been better with LE, although it remains to be seen how much better this year's team is defensively.

It is awesome to have coaches who believe this and are able to recruit the players to make it happen. Orr, Eustachy, Hoiberg, and now Prohm.

To be fair, McDoormat also believed it, and got good recruits to make it happen. He just urinated it all down his leg year in and year out.

Eustachy not getting a chance to coach the Stinson, Blalock, Clark and Carr group was extremely disappointing. I think that team would have been special under Larry. Morgan was just not disciplined enough to get the best out of those guys.

And in LE's last two years we were 4-12 and 5-11 in the conference...
