No kidding, only won back to back Big 12 regular season titles, a Big 12 tournament championship, and took a team to the Elite 8... Horrible coach.

I wonder if any of the players drank with Larry while he was here at ISU.

He's not the like the Iowa Central CC president from a couple years ago. The one that was seen on a boat in his trunks while students were doing kegstands and he was cheering them on.

What better reasoning is there than success when evaluating how good a coach is/was?

Better reasoning would be to take in the FULL body of work both on and off the court. With our wonderful back-to-backs, would you care to remind us of the other not so stellar performances? Also part of the record and "reason" would dictate you take that into account as well.

Yeah, some people tend to forget that many of the players on those back-to-back championship teams were recruited by Tim Floyd, and in the two years after those championships LE was 29-33. That along with his antics on the court and his reputation off the court--which was already going downhill before the Missouri incident went public--made LE's career at ISU a time bomb waiting to go off.

And too many people put too much emphasis on those 2 years after the championships without looking at the pieces he had for the next year. Larry would have done more with those players than Wayne did.

I'm not saying LE was a good guy off the court when he was here, but he won and took ISU to places we've never been before. With his recruits or not, he still won. That would be like CPR winning back to back big 12 championships and winning a BCS bowl in his first few years without his recruits. Would we still be saying, "aw, he's not a good coach until he wins with his recruits." (I know, not exactly the same thing, but you get my point)

I don't agree with what he did off the court, but he had a couple of really good years at ISU and he gets my respect with that.
