Expectation were too high.

Expectations were too high this year. For ISU to have a winning season, most of its starters need to be seniors and juniors with good experience, especially the QB. As a result, there are going to be years like this year where several players are starting for their first time and they will struggle. In my memory, the good years usually come when ISU has an experienced QB who has started for a year or more. The good thing is that in two years our offense should be talented since most of our starters Saturday were freshmen or sophomores. That does nothing for us this year. Our defense lost too much last year and also needs to build experience. ISU recruits players that need a couple years to develop before most of them are ready to play. The best teams in the BIG-12 recruit several recruits who can play right away. That gives the best teams much more depth and players too choose from. Until ISU can recruit, more 3 and 4 star kids, ISU will have years like this from time to time.

Six wins in a terrible Big 12 with "the most athletic" Iowa State team are too high of expectations?

My expectations were to spend a very generous amount of money to travel to Memphis with all the other grandmas and families spending hard-earned income and to see a team not lay a big, stinking, fat turd on the field against community college team with one good ex-con-ex-cornhusker player. My lowest of low expectations were not met at the Liberty Bowl. There was no "Life", let alone pride. What happened next in corrective actions?? I am not talking half-time adjustments, I am talking months and months of high-salary coaching evaluation and analysis of the previous season. What happened? nothing. Results: we have re-played the Liberty Bowl 6 times this year. I think I had higher expectations for Chizik at this point, seriously.

Optimistically we can turn this around against the league bottom feeders in the next five games. If not, the spring game can be cancelled because bball will be so far ahead it will not be funny.

We are likely going to finish 1-11 or 2-10 and our expectations of finishing higher than that are too high. Good god.

The expectation, even at Iowa state, should be to go to and win bowl games.

Rhoads knows this, and this season is unacceptable. He needs a good year next year (bowl win) to redeem himself or cyclone fans will become restless again.

This is the most correct post, this season is unacceptable. The fan base is teetering, better get better fast or the attendance will be pre McCarney numbers. Some good seats opening up section 2 next season as a number of people around us won't be renewing.

FANS expectations were too high - all the publications had ISU getting 2-3 wins. That is still in realm of possibility and beating Texas was the Rhoads upset special taken away by refs.

TCU and KU as still possible wins. No one in pubs were drinking kool-aid and guys that are 3-4 years younger and less experienced and developed than the competition is usually going to end like it has.
