Predictably Matt Campbell is mentioned in the article. But where he was mentioned was refreshing from an ISU fan perspective. The article focused on coaches that would “be in the mix for new jobs”... here is the Campbell mention:

“A few guys who are hot commodities I suspect would be less tempted to bolt for a lot of bigger jobs than most people think so I didn’t include them here. One of those is Iowa State’s Matt Campbell who I doubt would jump short of an Ohio State or ND coming after him.”

To be clear Feldman did not include Campbell on the list since he did not see him leaving ISU. I think this is in line with most fan expectations... but nice for to hear it from a national source. I hope he decides to be the Bowden (FSU), Beamer(VT), or Snyder (KSU) of Iowa State and retires after a long successful career... but at least every article written on him is not projecting him to leave at the first offer.

To be honest, shouldn't Jamie have the inside track to try and match or beat offers? I dont think Campbell has an agent so any school that calls has to ask Jamie to talk to him, correct?

Actually, in his press conference, he mentions admiring the SDSU coach, who has been there 22 years, iirc, and a couple of other role models (including his own college coach) who have been there 30+.

I can dream, can’t I?
I dream that to... I think it’s possible.

Notre Dame scares me more than anybody else.

Way more than even Michigan and Ohio State.

Brian Kelly has been holding on by a thread there.

Campbell is Catholic and is a wholesome family man.

We all know what he has proven as a coach and program-builder.

Notre Dame might see a guy who could be there decades and do great things.

I would feel a lot better if tOSU had canned Meyer right away.

Nah, if the Buckeyes have a playoff season he will Urban will be back. Media still approaching this whole story from a social direction and assumes he will leave. If Urban was gonna get canned it would have happened.

Urban beats Michigan every year and Urban has OSU as a playoff contender.

Wins trump everything at OSU.

If they fire him at the end of this year they would have to pay for 3 remaining years on his current deal, plus they would have to pay ISU 7 million.. And then sign Campbell to a big deal.

Numbers say probably not after this year, after next year maybe, assuming ISU has a good season this year

Notre Dame has a lot of money.

I think there are four existential threats --

OSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, and maybe Michigan State

If Urban can survive what just happened in Columbus, then I doubt he is going anywhere anytime soon. He retires there. I think Harbaugh is in it for the long-haul in Ann Arbor, though I could see him wanting to return to the NFL if the right franchise with the right quarterback opened up to him. I think James Franklin is in it for the long-haul in Happy Valley.

I do not think Michigan State is quite elite enough for where Campbell could aim.

That leaves Notre Dame -- coach with uncertain future, unlimited resources and tradition, even if not as unparalleled as in the past, who is going to love a young guy of Campbell's squeaky-clean image, family, system, and faith. The fit there is real. It might not be next year, but if Kelly starts to struggle again, then I think we might need to sweat a little.

Think bigger everyone. Campbell’s dream job is Cleveland. His next move will be to the NFL unless Iowa State fires him.

I bet his mindset is: “Iowa State is a Power 5 school. If I can’t earn a promotion to the NFL from here, then I don’t deserve one.” What better place to prove yourself?
