Finally saw the entire replay of the game and 2 things caught my attention.

First, if AA can't go today, I feel pretty darn good about JT taking over. I thought he played extremely well. We all know how great a runner he is and what a threat he provides with his legs, but I also thought he threw the ball well too. I was pleasantly surprised how well he threw it. I don't recall any long passes he attempted, but all the short to medium ones had plenty of zip and were on target.

Second, I don't recall anyone talking about all the snaps that Lattimer took at DE in the 2nd half of that game? Maybe he was playing some DE in the 1st half too, but I didn't notice him out there until the 2nd half. If he could provide some depth at that position... that would be a good thing. And if true freshman Willie Scott can bulk up to play DE someday, that would also provide some help at our most needed position right now. I'm very doubtful about Laing's ability to ever be a Big 12 DE... I hope I'm proven wrong though. But Lattimer is now playing ahead of Laing it appears.

Yeah lattimer and raven both lined up at de to get a speed rusher out there. The coaching staff is doing some good things to pressure the opposing offense.

Cool. The difference with Lattimer though is that he actually nearly has the size to be a DE.

On a lot of 3rd and longs we trotted out a 3-2-6 with Raven at DE. Never seen isu do something that creative before. Doubt we see much of it today but against other spread teams it looks promising.

I thought Tiller played really solid. Did not force throws like the Iowa game, however he wasn't facing a lot of pressure either.

Ya know this thread got me thinking.... What changes are the coaches gonna do this week? Maybe see beau? Maybe some trick plays? Maybe some different formations/players on defense?

Actually you may see Bo. If AROB and Beau dont play due to injury. Thats one injury away from Bo having to play.

Im guessing we RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN and run some more today.

I think we'll see something a bit different. I guarantee you that the coaching staff has probably known all week that AA probably wouldn't be good to go and has developed a game plan around JT and his unique abilities.

I would like to see quite a bit of Beau to see what he can do. He's already burned his RS, so why not throw him out there to give Schwartz a breather and see what he can do? I don't see any reason why you should be afraid of playing a true freshman at RB? Iowa's been forced to go with 2 true freshmen RB's this year over a RS freshman in Brinson... and both Adam Robinson and Wegher have proven they can get the job done. Give Beau a chance!

Tiller seems to have a more explosive first few steps than AA does. But AA has shown more "power" running skills than I thought he had. I like them both.

By the way... Lattimer is 6'2" and 240 lbs. If Neal can play DE at 6'0 and 230 lbs... then Lattimer can surely play DE if he has the skills needed to do so.

That is an interesting thing you bring up. Maybe this coaching staff is thinking in the future. We might not be bringing in as many de as previously thought. Therefore, we will need to move some people around to get better depth there. We have a serious lack of depth in both positions but if we bring in more lb in this class, why not move some larger lb to de and get more speed out on that field. That is something we seriously lack out there.

Tiller MUST keep the ball tucked... too many chicken wings in the times he has played this year.

Short passing game.. behind the LBs that will be crowding/run blitzing to pressure a freshman QB. If a few short passes can get him going.... I like our potential.

However.... special teams need to be PERFECT .... 25 yarders.... 45 yarders.... PATs! EVERYTHING.

We can win this with Tiller and Schwartz... but both are capable of TOs .... can't happen today.
