First Practice?

I ran into Jessie Smith at Scheels on Monday night. He said players report on Tuesday, August 4. I would assume practice starts either the 4th or 5th.
Jessie is looking solid & his handshake almost dropped me to my knees. He said he is excited to get this year started. Go Cyclones!!! :yes:

But since you all seem to be in the "Loop", I'm curious how the transition is going with the new offensive and defensive philosophies. Have they been given everything, or only a little part of everything? Does it seem effective? How much is PR playing with the role of the Defense?
Players report on the 4th and practice starts on the 6th.

This may be a stupid question, but I am going to ask it.
How come they all start on different days? If the earliest to start is on the 5th why wouldn't they want to start then to get that extra day? I know that it wont make a big difference, but just wondered.

And only within a certain time period before kickoff of your first game--which might have small relevance to do with why we play so many Thursday night openers.
PR said he isnt playing much of a role in the defense. Special teams is where he's getting his hands dirty. He even said he's been proud to say that he's been keeping out of wallys hair. It was also said that what he respected for tommy at auburn he was able to do his own thing with the defense. Wally is a top 25 coach in his position and the same with herman....let them get at it!
I believe they have it set up so that you can have a "camp" any few days between the 3rd and the 8th (roughly)
And then "practice" starts the 10th or 11th and every team in the nation will start that day.
