I have read the article and did not see any person of interest in regards to Iowa State (if that is the inference). sorry, but who did I miss?

I'm guessing Pitino or Don Nelson (Iowa grad) but not sure what the inference is either.

Anybody read the book, "Play Their Hearts Out"? This article reminds me of this book. In short, the book follows a coach (Joe Keller) in southern California in late 90s-mid 2000s and the AAU team he coaches. He garners a lot of power and kids get ranked early as the "best 6th grader in the country", etc... They get shoes and equipment from sponsors and travel all over the country competing in national tourneys. This sounds similar in a lot of regards.

It makes me cringe when I read about parents who allow their kids to put all their eggs in one basket at such an early age and their kids get put on a pedestal. Some of these coaches have so much power and it sounds the same here.
