No joke, im yet to see an eco boost get better than 16mpg, ours gets 14, our f350 gets 11mpg and the dodge 1500 gets 23 haha.

Average or highway? My personal F150 Ecoboost isn't broken in yet, but at around 700 miles I drove for 4 hours (highway) and got 19.X. Average right now I'm at 15.6, which is mostly city.

With mine it all depends on how I drive it. If I drive reasonably, I can get better than 16 easily. If I really get on the turbos, of course I will not get better than 16. Des Moines/Chicago round trip this past weekend I got 19.4 mpg (only went 5 mph over the speedlimit). For fun, one Des Moines/Cherokee roundtrip on backroad highways I set the cruise at 55 and got 24.1 mpg.

I have noticed that I get 1 to 1.5 mpg less during the winter than the summer - not sure why that is though.

All that being said, I do a lot of city driving and through 34,000 miles, I average 16.7 mpg. I do, however, like to get on the turbos from time to time just for the fun of it.

I get 14-15 mixed driving with my Suburban. No reason to buy a new truck I guess.:spinny:

For us the big advantage is the towing--lots of low end torque (2013 Ford F-150 | View Full Engine Specifications | Ford.com). We had been using diesel pickups (before the price for diesels took off). This gets us close and has decent fuel economy. To go to the big V8 it would be combined fuel economy/highway of 13/16; for the Ecoboost it is 17/21. I'll take that. Gas Mileage of 2013 Ford F150 Pickup

The 5.3L Suburban is 17/21 as well, FWIW. Gas Mileage of 2013 Chevrolet Suburban

You can't use an EPA estimate. They are notoriously wrong with new technology. You will not get better mileage towing with a V6 ecoboost as opposed to the V8. My brother in law has one and is is getting far worse towing mileage than the 7 year old Silverado he had before. He is not happy with the vehicle.

If Ford should ever put the 3.2L PowerStroke diesel that is rumored for the 2014 Transit into the F-150, we actually would have a real "eco" boost pickup...

Dodge is partnering with VM Motori to put a diesel 3.0L V6 into the Ram 1500 this fall. It's the same company that made the little 2.6L diesel for the Jeep Patriot years ago.

Chrysler announced today that the Ram 1500 will offer a light-duty diesel engine when it goes into production this fall. Using the same turbocharged 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 recently introduced in the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Ram 1500 is expected to get even better fuel economy than the current 2013 model's best-in-class 25 miles per gallon on the highway.

Power output has not been released for the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, but in the Grand Cherokee, this engine produces 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, and it will be paired with Chrysler's eight-speed automatic transmission.

This is going on my Christmas list...
