We still watch all of the games, live or at JTS...or Hilton. We cheer for the good plays and scream at Manning to line them up under center for the QB "sneak", which really isn't very sneaky from the shotgun. We're excited when they win, and bummed when they lose. Then we turn the tv off or leave JTS, and go on with the rest of our day.

I understand not wanting to watch if they're not winning (although there are still good moments in the games...like our amazing defense).

What I don't get is coming to a fan-based website with "fanatic" in the title, AND starting a thread announcing you are no longer going to watch. Seems kind of silly to me. But hey, OP...you do you.

Agree, but live too far away to make season BB tix doable. This year, especially with the earlier overall kick times we've had, we need to sometimes scramble to get into the stadium because we are ENJOYING the game day tailgating. In the stadium we have made good friends in our season ticket section that we only see 6X per year. In seasons such as this one, less attention is paid to the field and more attention paid to those around us. In today's world it is rare to make friends with a group that started as strangers. If all you cared about was whether we won, why even bother following a school like ISU, stick to a team like Alabama and leave the rest of us alone.

I will come on CF every week and tell you I’m done with football. I just can’t quit them.

He gave a solution and it’s really not a bad one. Do something else and don’t let it affect you. Not a bad idea when a season is not only in the toilet but we have lost every single game by multiple self indicted wounds. Like junior varsity like mistakes.
All you quitters go have fun together. I'm a die hard and I'm gonna die with this team this year

I tried not watching a few times and always come back. I hear ya. Being busy with projects or just getting out of town for half the day is easiest... but still.
I used to think it was the kids too. Problem is all the other teams have 18-22 year Olds too with nice facilities... yet, they find a way to win. So must be the coaching. So I'll have to say a bunch of well paid 40 plus year old men affect my day.
Faulty logic.
Only true if the players are equal caliber.

Not exactly sure.
Just don’t watch. This team and coaching staff have wasted my Saturdays and torn my heart out all year. Today, I said eff it and didn’t watch a snap. Probably the most enjoyable Saturday for months.
Thought this was going be about curing your clap.

Sports are supposed to be entertainment and a diversion from the rigors of life. If they become the essence of it, then I can see why people would and probably should exit the venue. This is clearly less of an issue for the distaff side of each family, thankfully.

It would be much easier if they were being blown out. Losing one score games that would be easy wins is draining
Agreed.. in addition to the fact we have an elite defense. Just a waste of perhaps the best defense in school history.

Not faulty in the least. 2021 team loaded with talent. Crappy results. In fact, historically crappy given the potential that team possessed. 2022 young team. Crappy results. Stupid repetitive mistakes still happening. Horrible play calling. Can't sustain offensive momentum when it's handed to us. We have a coaching problem, not a talent problem. We have been in virtually EVERY game this year and failed most of the time. That's coaching. Exception of course being our defense.

Bourbon typically helps this situation. If anything this should be proof enough that we need to open up our wallets for the NIL collective. We need players that can catch the damn ball.

Coverage here in Florida has been tricky so like it or not I don't get to see many games anyways but a losing skid like this season has featured has made it a lot easier to justify paddle boarding at the springs, hitting the beach or heading to Disney a much easier choice than trying to find a sports bar to watch from.

Not a criticism to you at all, but sad what the football season is doing to Cyclone fandom. At a time where we need support and national attention (in a good way). Many fans check out when the product is not good, repeated mistakes are made, and hope is low.

Hopefully Campbell will figure this out, soon.
Yeah, as I get older I still cheer like crazy for my Cyclones, but I also remind myself that this is just a form of entertainment and nothing more. I save my sadness and depression for real hardships that impact myself and my loved ones.

I also record all the games and sometimes I only watch them after we win, especially basketball. I've become a much calmer person over the long winter.
I have done this a time or two as well. I prefer watching/listening live, but recording and watching later (or not) is not bad.

My emotional investment has decreased substantially over the last 20 years even though we’re much better than when I started following the Clones in the 80s and 90s. It’s so much healthier to maintain perspective, unfortunately it took about 25 years for me to figure that out.

There’s also a numbing effect when your last 10 losses are all one score games and we’ve only won 1 such game in that span. If we had a year and a half stretch of 1-10 in one score games when I was in my 20s or 30s I may have died of a heart attack. Now it rolls off my back.

This pretty much sums it up for me. I love the cyclones. LOVE them. I make every attempt possible to watch every game and am heavily invested emotionally. Until its over. Then it's done and it's time to move on to the other things called life. My wife has asked why I love watching sports so much when it seems to just make me frustrated. The best answer I can come up with is because that emotion felt during the game is directed to the game. The game itself gives me a short, few hour break, from the rest of my life. It's nice to check out and enjoy college sports....even when we ******* lose by one GD possession....again. But it's a game. It's helped me tremendously to adopt the "well, that sucks, I wonder what's on next" type attitude.

Maybe I'm just getting old but with all the chaos in the world I'm just thankful to have about 40 opportunities a year to act like a kid, day drink, message with my college buddies, and complain/celebrate what these 18-22 year old kids are able to do on the court/field.

It's not the championships we've won but the friends we made along the way..... lol okay I'm going to throw up. Seriously though, it's just a game. Enjoy it for what it is and spend your energy on the things you can actually control/impact.
