Anyone see how South Carolina finished? Let me tell you, they lost to a TERRIBLE Miss. St. (10-21, 4-14 SEC) in the first round of the SEC tournament 70-59. USC finished with a 14-18 record and 4-14 in the SEC. I bring this up because I hated that greasy gangster when he was at KState and when he decided to leave for USC I questioned why; A program that hasn't had any success (I believe) since 2004 when they last went to the dance. Was there something recruiting wise or other violations that would make Franky get out of Dodge (or Manhattan) quick? Or just for the money and the chance to build a garbage program up, the challenge perhaps? Who knows, I'm just glad to see failure and I hope he's assistant coach at some garbage SWAC program in 3 years. Anyone else share my joy?

People still hate on Frank Martin? That is sooo 2007.

I remember when all the haters said he'd be nothing without Beasley and Walker. Yeah, that worked out. I miss Frank Martin in the Big 12. He's definitely one of my favorites. I don't care what he looks like, the guy was a class act for the very most part at K-State.

I actually do not share in your joy. Almost every account I heard was positive towards Martin. Sure he looked scary on the sidelines, but I've personally only heard great things. Martin was the first person in the Big 12 to welcome Hoiberg in to to the Big 12 coaching family. I don't know why he left K-State, but have not heard anything shady going on. I wish him the best at SC.

He and the AD at K-State essentially hated each other. That is why he wanted to get out of town as soon as possible. He tried to get the Miami job the year before as well. But an awful year for angry Frank.

On the other hand, no one had ever done more with someone else's players than Bruce Weber. Let's see how he recruits. My guess is not very well

Didn't know that he was at odds with the AD. I don't miss him because the dude could coach and he made KState a tough win at Hilton and the Octagon. I do miss him however for his blow-ups.

My guess is he will do just as good with these players as he did with Bill Self's at Illinois. Weber is a good coach, but SUCKS at recruiting.

While that was the knock on him for years at Illinois, at the end of his run there, he recruited really well, but the team was not well coached and under performed.

That's because he recruited the softest big men ever and all of his guards were sg's and not pg's. that's a recruiting problem.

That's because he doesn't recruit to a system. Get's great talent, then let's them free-lance.

Doesnt he also has issues developing players.

I think he is a similar coach to Greg Mcd. Only difference is he walked into teams with talent.

I really miss Martin in the Big 12. Was a great coach. He'll have USC dancing ASAP. The SEC isn't a great basketball league. He took over an awful team. Give him 2 years and get back to me.

I do wonder if he will try and get another Florida job if one opens up.

I like Frank Martin, but I am glad he is gone. I don't want to face Martin coached teams twice a year.

Don't forget about the player being held out of the NCAA tournament last year. I had to look up the story to remember details, but Jamar Samuels accepted $200 from his AAU coach and the AD/university ruled him ineligible for their 3rd round game against Syracuse. There was some press conference footage from after the game that made it pretty clear Martin was not pleased.
