He knew what he was getting into. That said, it's still funny to see Bulls fans go nuts over the coach and completely overlook the train wreak of talent on the team.

Thats something I just dont understand. In college, you say fire the coach because he cant recruit and thats why you suck. In the pros....Hoiberg does with what he has. Not his fault the players suck. Why cant bulls fan realize that everyone on their team is not very good. Your star is jimmy butler ffs.

I agree with this for the most part, but would add that injuries have really hurt this team this year, and I think most logical Bulls fan understand that none of this is Hoiberg's fault. Most I know are still ****** at Gar for getting rid of Thibs. I still do not understand why Hoiberg thought ti would be a good idea to coach this team.

Not exactly sure.
Timing is big. He had great timing taking over isu. He took over the Bulls at a bad time. Old, unsynched players. Poorer offense from a prior defensive minded coach. A coach that got them into the playoffs.

Just poor timing, IMO.

? Great timing with taking over ISU? He built that from scratch.

He had a lot of good will to work with and no one expected success in the first year or two. At the same time not many of the blue bloods were taking full advantage of the transfer market like they are starting to now. That first year he was handed a pretty good senior PG and low expectations.

Honestly, almost everyone i knew said he was leaving a great job where he is loved and has something going. Then you had those that said but he is getting 5 million to do it. So in my opinion he knew what he was doing. He left all of our pove for the bright lights and now gets boooo'd instead of worshipped. Hopefully that pile of cash he is sitting on makes those booo's feel better.

The Bulls have had tons of injuries the last several years but Thibs has always dragged them to around 50 wins and solidly in the playoffs. They had a coach who could at least win regular season games with that roster and let him go. They sold their fanbase on the need to go in a different direction to get a better offensive coach who would have them better prepared for playoff success. Well they've been much worse offensively this year, tied for 24th in offensive efficiency, and they just don't look well coached. They've been hammered by bad teams, blown a lot of fourth quarter leads, there's been a lot of criticism on Fred's lineup choices, he hasn't been able to get the team leaders to buy in. I never thought it would go this badly for him but it's been an incredibly rough year for Fred.

No expectations. We just wanted hope. A 500 conference record and people would have wet themselves with McD. Attendance was falling. Couldn't get much worse. Near dumpster fire. Had a couple decent players returning to buy time to bring some transfers in.
