Fred getting more technicals with Bulls than he ever did at ISU

I really don't understand some chicago fans' obsession with Joakim Noah. He may have been a great defensive player for you for a couple years, but what I saw of him this year before his injury was beyond horrible.

He does look done, Thibs ran him into the ground. But he's unquestionably one of the team leaders and Fred getting caught up in a lie about Noah right away didn't help him with the team or fan base at all.

I missed the lie. What was that?

On the other hand, the denial can be the lie. That kind of thing can happen as easily as the other.
Devil's advocate position there to say no one really knows.

Well since Fred later said Noah never specifically said he wanted to come off the bench, and Noah has been about as team first of a guy as you will find on the league, it certainly looks like he was the one not telling the truth for some reason.

Thibs also ran his starters into the ground and refused to develop/play the younger players. His team rolled over in the playoffs and was beat up. Fred has been dealing with minute restrictions on players all year long.

Not exactly sure.

Thibs was given minute restrictions, but didn't listen to them. They were tired. So the question is, is it better to be tired and in the playoffs or fresh and the 9 seed and missing the playoffs.

I do feel bad for Fred. He gets at least another year or two I would think, but this is going to be a hard time for the fans. Would be nice to see what he could do with a team built for his system.

He definitely should have went to Minnesota. I think he got awe struck when the Bulls came calling and didn't really think to far into the future

Definitely far from a guarantee. I would almost say it's more likely he is gone at some point next season.

He's going to be there as long as the current FO is there. They go, he goes.

They need to dump Pau and Noah's bloated contracts and evaluate if Rose can ever be close to what he used to be and if they can attract any big FAs to CHI to play with Butler.

I think it was CBS Sportsline that had an article in the last few days that the Bulls are (obviously) stuck with Fred. The more interesting point was that this will be the first time that GarPax will have to shoulder some of the blame for the team sucking. Fred's their guy and before they could blame the coach for the problems. Now they can't. They'll have to trade Butler because Fred can't work with him. GarPax is on the hook for either Fred's success or his failure. This article also stated that Fred and GarPax had worked out the deal to coach the Bulls long before Thibs was fired and Iowa State's season was done.

Personally, I think Gar Forman is pretty slimy. I'll be interested to see if he drops Fred like a hot potato to try and save his own ***. I've already read where Gar is trying to separate himself from Paxton.

Butler isn't going anywhere and while he's obviously a prima donna almost all NBA stars are. He's signed through '19/'20 and his highest cap hit is $19.8 million. That is going to look OUTRAGEOUS in 2 years. Other stars will be making $30 million or more per year as the salary cap increases.

Noah's $13.4 million is off the books after this year.

Pau has a $7 million player option he probably exercises, he could be a trade piece with his age and cost.

And Rose is making $21 million next year. He could be traded to someone who thinks they are a decent PG away from a title and don't care about money. He's obviously extraordinarily overpaid and his ego is similarly overinflated. Both to the levels of when he was an MVP player and not a shell of his old self.

Jimmy Butler is being kind of douchy but it's the least of CHI's problems.

I actually think Fred is a dumba** for taking on this old, worn down roster in the same division as CLE but the rebuild path is pretty clear to me, and the issues have been way more with the roster/injuries than with Fred as a coach.

I guess it depends how bad things get. He's definitely on the hot seat, but wow eating 4 years of that contract.
