Who is it? Here is mine

Offense: Quenton Bundrage (or any WR to be honest)
Defense: David Irving

I think we really need help at DE and getting to the QB and it would be nice to see Irving get some snaps

Offense: any WR
Defense: Kenneth Lynn. We need to develop some guys who will be ready to step in when LJ and TB are gone. By develop, I mean "actual game reps".

Kenneth Lynn and/or Sam Richardson. I would like to see them get some experience because they will have to play next year.

Offensively, unless they can start or play a very significant amount, I would like to see them redshirt.

I'd like to see all our freshmen redshirt too, but this is just for fun so pick someone yaman!

Fine, Lampkin or Nealy. I know everyone wants to see a stud emerge as a freshmen receiver. I think Bundrage could perhaps do that, but I think Nealy is versatile enough that he could find his way onto the field in the slot or in the backfield and I think Lampkin is most likely able to help us in the return game.

I'll agree with both, but make the caveat for the former to be Tad Ecby--because that would mean that he qualified.

I'd love to see Irving be ready enough to see some snaps--and helping on special teams as well!

On offense (well, special teams) I want Lampkin returning kicks and punts. Lenz is solid on punt returns but we need him to be a consistently healthy WR.

Lynn on defense, same as someone else said - game experience in prep for next year with LJ and TB gone. Second is Pompey if his knee is healthy enough.

This would be my answer as well. Whoever looks like they could make an impact at WR.

I hope Bundrage doesn't have to redshirt. We need someone to step up at wide receiver and he's old for a freshman. He'll be 20 by our third game. He should be physically ready to provide quality snaps and he looked fairly imposing on tape.

We need this guy holding down the center of our DL.....

Ecby has been on campus.

I want to see Nealy or Standard and 1 wide reciever.

I want to see Irving and or Pompey.

gotta keep in mind Lynn is listed at 157 pounds and Bundrage at 176. Pretty thin, but crazier things have happened..

Offense: Nealy, Bundrage
Deffense: Lynn, Brackins, maybe pompey? I guess it doesn't matter a whole lot as very few of them will see the field anyway so mine as well save a year of eligibility. I am worried about our secondary depth, especially going into the 2012 season...
I also feel the Irving is too raw right now, give him a year in the system and we might have a beast for 2-3 years depending on pro potential.

I would be shocked if Irving doesn't redshirt and excited if he doesn't. If he doesn't that means that he is just too good to keep off the field. I expect Lynn to not play this year. So he is my one guy on defense. Second would be Pompey but I REALLY want our DT's to be good enough to let him redshirt.

Edit: J. Miller is lock to play special teams and defense.

On offense I expected Nealy to play but with his recent trouble I think it makes it more likely he redshirts. So I'd go with either Nealy or Lampkin.

Offense: Nealy or Lampkin because it can never hurt to have as many playmakers on the field as you can.

Defense: Pompey. Although it's really hard for a true freshman to be ready to play DT, I'd love to see him be good enough already to see playing time and help us out there.

Obviously I'd love it if Irving was just WAY too good to keep off the field, but I don't want to play him if he's not better than Lattimer, Maggitt, Nelson, or Neal. I don't want to waste a year on just a few plays here and there. Not worth it IMO.

I think that there's a big difference between who WILL play and who we WANT to play. I WANT Sam Richardson the QB to play because if that's the case, he's better than everyone else and we've upgraded the position immediately and long term. But who do I think WILL play? That's a different story all together. In my opinion:

Miller - 100%. He's playing. He was playing BEFORE Bennett and Smith left, but he's definitely playing now. He was in the two deep when he should have been in HS still. He's going to see time on every special team and get some series on D while Knott is resting.

Lamkin - 75%. I see him returning kickoffs. Maybe as a gunner on the punt and kickoff teams as well. He has straight line speed, which is a necessity for those spots. And if you look at who else is out there with KOR/gunner experience...Sims is gone, LJ is a starter and defensive leader, Lenz and Shontrelle are sure starters at their spots, Reeves is a full time starter now. They're going to need someone to pick up the slack here.

Nealy OR Standard - 50%. I could see them doing the same thing they did last year with Johnson and Hollis...the more ready of the two plays, the other redshirts. But the difference this year is that RB is a lot deeper. Unless Hollis is in more trouble than we think. Nealy could be good out of the backfield, but I just have a hard time believing that he'd be better in the slot than Horne or West.

S.Richardson (CB) - 50%. They're going to need someone to groom to take over for LJ. I have a feeling that he's the guy.

Irving - 40%. He's a freak athlete and they definitely need the help. I could see him playing even though I hope he redshirts.

Pompey - 30%. To me, they have 3 out of 4 interior DLs. They just need that 4th guy to step up. Maybe it's Pompey or maybe it's Woods, Jensen or Henry Simon. If Pompey is the best out of those four, he's probably going to play.

Miller is the only lock not to IMO. I would be pretty disappointed if Sam Richardson the QB didn't RS. Irving is very interesting. I could see him getting some playing time on size and talent alone. The only reason its in question is he needs coached up more on his technique and how to play the position better.

Rhoads has been very good about red-shirting guys so far.

With the difficulties that loom ahead schedule wise, this may be the class that bucks the trend a bit if they can or will be needed to help the team next year.

We really don't know what the 20 or so RS freshman are going to look like though. It could be business as usual for Rhoads, and he only plays 3-4 guys.

I agree, Rhoads has been very conservative in terms of playing freshmen. He has also said this is by far his deepest team. Miller won't redshirt. I actually forgot about him earlier. Everyone else could redshirt though. I just don't see a position/player combo that says a freshman will have to play.

Offense-Lamkin. Don't know a whole lot about him, but i feel he needs to develop.

Defense-Miller. The guy has a Big 12 ready body. He's good to play.
