This was an expensive week for us, thanks to @Mr Janny . He made a chicken-and-rice dish last Sunday - I don't cook, so I didn't ask a lot of questions, but none of us enjoyed it. Much at all. I think I told him, "I appreciate you cooking so much, but I actively hate this." Needless to say, we had many, many leftovers - so he gave them to our two dogs.

These aren't your "eat a tin can barnyard dog" variety dogs. These are "hypoallergenic prissy dogs to accommodate Angie's allergy" dogs who puke if food is too hot, too cold, too bacon-y. He gave them a TON of the food, and both proceeded to vomit that afternoon. Our dog who is typically more of a puker, Hazel, was one-and-done, she got it out of her system. Stuart barfed a few more times - so Janny, for I DON'T KNOW WHAT REASON, gave them both more on Monday. Stuart couldn't hold anything down that night, I called the vet and we did a fast-and-white-rice diet, got him probiotics from the vet, etc. Nothing was helping.

I took him in finally after chatting with our vet. While I was waiting for the exam with Stuart, I texted Janny to find out all of the ingredients. "Chicken, rice, chicken stock, a packet of onion soup..." Both the vet and her tech stopped short when I mentioned the onion soup, what with it BEING TOXIC TO DOGS and all. They had to do X-rays to check for obstructions, blood work to make sure it hadn't given him pancreatitis, an anti-emetic injection, some more anti-emetic pills to take home, special food that they informed me "you should give him the next few days instead of table scraps" (thx), etc.

Total bill? $721. So that Janny didn't have to throw away some chicken and rice. We got home and he said, "Wow. Well, I am glad they found out what it was so I didn't have to also tell them there was half a can of beer in there."

ANYWAY. That was a whole backstory to ask - what is "I'm a dumb ass tax" money you've had to spend that just enrages you? Money that you were like "I seriously can't believe I caused that/didn't know that?" Because I'm not letting Janny live this down anytime soon, maybe help me put this into perspective.

I was 16 and after track practice we would race our cars to get a polar pop, a 39 cent super gulp essentially, and I won that day and was circling my friend's car in the parking lot laughing not paying attention and all the sudden I hit something...

It was the sheriff's car.

I hit the outside roll bar and it messed my bumper up pretty good. We got a good talking to, to say the least along with warning tickets for racing. And I had to buy a new bumper.

Could've been a lot worse but needless to say, we didn't race for polar pops anymore.

If you stop your car half way backed out of your garage because you forgot something and run back into the house, it's best to put it in park and not in drive. Or you will lose your headlight, bumper, side panel, deep freeze and a good chunk of a half side of beef.

Bought a new vehicle. Same model as previous but updated body.
Both have parking sensors. I parked new one in garage to the same distance as previous vehicle. Hit garage door button on way into house.
New vehicle must be barely inches longer, a metal hinge bracket on the door scraped down the backside of it and a line of paint came off.

Not the beef. :(

After college, I was living in Ames and working. On a Saturday, I ordered a pizza online from Jeff's pizza for lunch. It didn't come after some time. So I called them and they said they didn't have any record of it, so I placed the order again over the phone and the pizza came.

However, later that night, I wasn't doing anything, having beers by myself in the apartment when at midnight, someone knocks on my door. A tipsy me answers it and its a pizza guy to deliver a pizza. I told him I didn't order it, he then says it was for me, which I repeat I didn't order it. He scoffs and walks away. On Sunday, I was thinking about it and it hit me that I probably selected 12 am (Midnight) for the online delivery, and not 12 pm (noon). Of course I got charged for the one that came at midnight.

Was super excited about getting concert tickets one time and in my excitement wasn't paying attention when swinging into a parking spot, and hit the car next to where I was going. I was insured so wasn't crazy but still really stupid and I also was the one who created the hassle for that person to have to take their car in, get it fixed, etc. Just stupid.

Not something I caused but getting nickel and dimed for several visits for anywhere from $100-300 on a vehicle when it was pretty clear they really weren't fixing the issue.

This was a local place so I did my best to support them but it came to a point where I just don't go any more.

At a pit party in high school, I high centered our pickup on a large rock that was hidden by a bush. I had to get a ride to a nearby farm to call home to my dad. When he asked if I'd been drinking, of course I lied. However, being the master criminal that I was in my youth, I left the beer in the bed of the truck for my dad to see when he came to pick me up.

It cost me in both dollars and freedom.

This happened to a friend of mine: She bought Elton John tickets at Hilton for a concert in the mid 80s. She's a HUGE Elton fan. Anyway, I saw her the day after the concert and asked her how it went. She said, "the concert is tonight, so I will let you know." I had to break the bad news to her that she missed it. Not good.

I co-signed on a car loan with a girlfriend that became an ex-girlfriend. That's all I'm going to say I guess. I don't want to think about it any more. Thanks a lot Angie.

A real pick-me-up start to the day. Sorry man!

Last winter, the water coming out of our showers felt cooler than usual and seemed to take forever to warm up. So I called a plumber, convinced our water heater was going bad (a thought that terrified me, but the unit is 20+ years old, so it was not a surprise). The plumber came out and tested everything only to tell me that with super cold temperatures outside, sometimes it takes a little longer for water to warm up. Duh. That thought honestly never crossed my mind. He still charged me $160 for the house call. And I felt like a huge idiot.

Our neighbor here is an 80 something widower. His daughter and family came over this summer one weekend and they were hanging out front when I walked by with the dog.

She proceeded to tell me she had ordered a couple pizzas for their dinner from Casey's and when she went to pick them up they didn't have them. Nor any record of the order. It was then she realized she had forgotten to change the Casey's location from her home town one to the local one when she placed the order on the app.

So called her daughter at home to pick up the two pizzas there. And reordered locally for a late dinner here.

They were waiting for them to be ready when I walked by.

Mrs. Velo has done this...twice. First time it destroyed the front rim on my bike and pushed the wall a little bit into daughter's bedroom. Second time it destroyed the front rim on Mrs. Velo's bike. Since these are carbon fiber bikes with relatively high end rims it was pretty damned expensive. Now the carbon bikes hang on a hanger on the wall above bumper and grill height.
