ISU and most of the local schools are officially in session this week.

Do you have any stories about back-to-school? Anything embarrassing happen to you or a fellow student? Are you a teacher who saw something funny? What are your fun stories?

My very first day of kindergarten wound up with me getting stitches. Was walking by a teeter totter at recess and some kid stepped down on the higher end and the other end just whacked me on the chin. I remember that but I don't remember the part about my mom apparently took me back after getting stitches since I was apparently so excited about school. Had another interesting kindergarten story too as apparently when the teacher was talking about dinosaurs and how old they were I asked if they were older than God and apparently she did not hear my question correctly and told me yes they were. So that night I was telling my parents that my teacher taught me that dinosaurs came before God did and that didn't sit well so they had a talk with the teacher about it who didn't realize she had said that. She apologized and had a conversation with me about it after that.

Nothing embarrassing, but something that made it a small world. Went to Kindergarten with a guy who ended up living next to me in the dorms freshmen year. I think he said after Kindergarten, his family moved to West Des Moines. I grew up in St. Charles, IL as a reference.

Daughters first day of preschool is today. I accidentally shot her in the eye with a nerf gun last night. Thankfully there is no black eye today.

Not a first day of school story but I did realize the other day that my son is now the same age/grade as I was when I made myself throw up so I could go home and watch ISU in the NCAA tournament. Still proud of myself but worried with the realization of what he is now capable of.

Got nothing but the guy sitting next to me at a meeting yesterday said it was the day he had been looking for all summer. He has 4 kids.

LOL, your story reminds me my niece gave herself a black eye out of just blending eyeliners, she made up a story to go with it and everything. Worked for a couple of days before her parents figured it out. She's lucky she didn't have a sore bottom afterwards they were not happy.

My first day of freshman year, we were playing a game for French class outside. I slipped on the wet grass and somehow kneed myself in the eye. Eye swelled shut pretty much instantly. 22 years later, I'm still the only person my French teacher had to fill out an accident report for.

1st day of 7th grade, I was a bus kid. First day of middle school, too, so new school, new kids to mingle with ... lots of prospective embarrassment.
I just started carrying a wallet, and it slipped out of my pocket on the bus. Had my $1 for hot lunch in it, too. Told my homeroom teacher.
SOMEHOW, word got around I'd lost my wallet on the bus - even to my mom, who worked in the school (but I didn't have her as a teacher, and avoided being seen with her at all cost). I was planning to mooch of friends for lunch, but sure enough, I'm sitting at the lunch table, and my mom walks right up to me, and in front of ALL my new friends, says (in a super loud teacher voice)
"I HEARD YOU LOST YOUR WALLET! HERE'S A DOLLAR, HONEY, SO YOU CAN GET FOOD!"
I was so embarrassed.

I'm not sure if this qualifies.

My daughter's birthday happens to fall on the first day of school quite often. She hates it and I think it's funny.

Same with our youngest. We redshirted him because he is small physically and he turned five the first day he would have started.

Not exactly sure.
But you were aiming for the head?
Most people squeeze triggers too fast so shots have a tendency to end up high and to the right. So if he was aiming middle of the back it would probably end up hitting their left eye if shooter was right handed.

I was shooting at her back from 20ish feet away with a nerf gun. Let's be honest...accuracy is not in the equation.
