Did you bonk your kid's head on the ceiling throwing them in the air?
Did you step on their favorite toy and break it?
Did you back over their scooter in the driveway?
Did you accidentally feed them pears even though they are allergic?
Did you shrink their favorite sweatshirt?

These completely random examples may or may have not all occurred at some point in my daughter's life.

Since we're nearing the end of 2022, let's bring on your best parental fails for this year.

You did that all this year? Surprised your kid is alive and kiddos for having the strength to toss her up that high since I think you have a High Schooler.

That's a small sample size of events over her life.

For this year:

- while practicing soccer with her, I mis-hit the ball and caught her square in the face. There was a stitching line on her cheek.

- I also called her our cat's name while yelling at her for something. BTW, your anger loses a lot of its effectiveness when you do that.

Nothing this year that I can think of (he's 24), but when he was 3 or 4, we were sledding on a fairly tame hill. He caught a little more speed than expected, and veered off toward a tree. I ran and dove to stop the sled. He did not stop, and face planted in the snow. Broke his glasses. He was so mad at me, so much for playing hero lol.

I have five boys and over the years have had a cat and three dogs. When I’m pissed, I rarely get the right name.

My worst parent move was leaving the hospital with oldest, very meticulously placing him in car seat, and not checking that husband actually fastened the carrier to the seatbelt when he carried him out. Discovered that when we got home.

At least two of them I placed on the bed before I thought they rolled much just to grab them clean clothes and they proved me wrong.

Husband was the one to bonk one on the ceiling. Also let older kid bonk newborn on head with a toy on his watch.

My biggest regret of parenting was losing my cool in front of the kids when they did not deserve it THAT much. They may have deserved a little yelling, but there were a few times my yelling flat out scared them. I know they likely forgot it and they let it go.... but it still bothers me because I should have known better.

I’ve caused bloody noses, a chipped tooth and numerous bruises playing basketball and baseball/softball with my kids.

My parenting style was to take them fishing and let them swim in the river; tell them to climb trees; stuff like that. But I always said “be careful” first, so all is well.

My son was being particularly uncooperative one time, and though I wasn't mad, and didn't raise my voice, out of frustration I said "stop being a sh*t head", and it absolutely broke his heart that I used that word to him (and then, of course, that broke mine). Never forgot that, still wish I could have that back.

One of the few times I saw my father cry was when he gave me a swat on the butt for something he later realized one of my brothers did. That was the end of anything resembling spanking in our house.

I 100% feel the same way.

Our 9 yr old has to take a daily medication which started in October. I think we have travelled to 3 overnight destinations since and are 0/3 on packing the medication. Luckily we've remembered before we were out of town, but have always had to turn around.

I left a two-year-old child unattended in a shopping cart at Menards, While in the next aisle, she tried to pull her older sister into the cart. The cart fell and my wife and I heard a crash followed by the most blood curdling scream. We grabbed the kids and left quickly, My daughter was screaming all the way home.

Now for the part that has left me with a 34 year guilt trip. At some point, I said, "Would you be quiet?". And she did. When we got home, she started to get out of her car seat and could not walk, Her leg was broken in both lower bones. It resembled the kind of break that happens when an adult twists the child's foot while sitting. The ER nurses separated her and her older sister from my wife and me to get their version of the story, It matched our story!
