On your laptop or computer, either personal or work, what programs do you use the most?

I use a lot of Outlook, obviously, but pretty well live in Excel. I love all of the different functions, setting up macros, pivot tables, graphs. Data makes sense to me.

How about you?

Definitely outlook, excel, teams, web browser. My current company likes PowerPoint presentations, so I am spending a little more time in that.

I'd say Excel is where I do by far most of my work.

That’s a good point on Teams - if you counted every message and every minute on meetings, that is a loooot.

I have a question for the professionals out there: I'm a newly minted PM that is a new role for me. I'm involved in 8 to 10 projects at any one time that include different clients and teams.

What does everyone use to manage/organize all that from a personal standpoint? I've learned that my notebook isn't good enough anymore because I can't capture it all on one page and I can't always see when deadlines conflict. We have internal PM software that handles the project schedule, assignments, etc. But I'm struggling to keep track of it all.

I've used trello in the past and am firing that up again. So far, it seems to help me see all the schedules at once.

What do you guys use?

I don’t really like it for any other purpose, but smartsheet does a really good job of aggregating different tasks from different sheets into a dashboard.

I primarily use farmbrite and highly recommend it for farmers with livestock. Additionally, I use FieldOps, Excel, and Outlook.

I am a data analyst for work, so besides Excel, I use Power BI as my current dashboarding tool, although I have had experience with Tableau as well. My current bosses love the embedding feature of PBI into Power Point presentations instead of just using screen shots. Use SQL Server Management Studio for querying data a ton. Teams and Outlook as well for day to day stuff.

Outlook for email.
PowerPoint or Prezi for lectures.
There's an online Learning Management System I use for grades, assignments, etc.
If I do end up doing any sort of basic analysis, it's Excel.
I don't have access to the more advanced stuff I used to use for the fun data fitting (SigmaPlot, Igor, etc.).

Work: Excel, Outlook and Chrome. Nothing complicated at all. We still have A LOT of paper used in my office.

Home: Our laptop is old enough that we're lucky to get a browser open. We use the OpenOffice version of Excel to budget and that's it. We're phone people.

Office suite for sure, I used to even teach an Excel class (because about 75% of what people want to do can be done with INDEX/MATCH and dynamic named ranges).

We have a configuration management platform (ARAS Innovator) that I live in (with mixed feelings about) - don't even get me started on CM here though. Let's just say I got very spoiled by the power plants.

We have some homebrew plant data recording/retrieval software that's garbage, so I've cooked up some perl scripts that do the data mining that I want. That was a fun project and has been super useful for me (though my compatriots seem to be terrified of command line stuff, so they've avoided learning how to use them).

Mostly chrome, since a lot of system are browser based. Then of course outlook, teams, and excel. Many putty windows.
