He hasn't talked to Iowa State just means that all his communication has been with Parker (search firm) and his interview hasn't happened yet.

Smart move by Fritz. Pollard likes coaching candidates to be tight lipped.

"Yeah, we all know this Georgia Southern job is a stepping stone for me. As soon as something better comes along, I'm outta here. So, yeah, I'm going to be interviewing with Iowa State and anybody else that will listen. I'm super pumped!!!"

Didn't see this anywhere, but...
Might just be talk to keep the team focused on the season.
Personally I would love to have this guy.

Cant believe how many times this has been brought up on different boards. No where did he mention he wasn't interested in the Iowa State job. As has been pointed out by others, that is why you hire Parker, to gaugue potential interest and line up interviews. And the idea that no names can surface or else they are off the list. The bball search ended that theory. The national media was all over it with the list of candidates we interviewed at Parker. I hope CW list is correct, I could support those guys

This is my top candidate - winning HC at 3 different schools, coaches different types of offense, coached in JC ranks and from the Midwest. Even if he uses ISU as a stepping stone to one of the top jobs please use us and once he has won for 3 or 4 seasons maybe at that point we find another that will look at ISU as a destination job.

Maybe this is a dumb question but if he wants to leave GS why Iowa State and not the other 13 open ones? If he is so good and a proven winner don't you think other P5 schools would call him?

The other schools probably want someone young with a more traditional resume. We would too if the ISU job was more desirable but it's not so we have to go after more non conventional candidates.

That being said I still like Fritz a lot.

He is 55 years old. Not a young flashy hire. It looks like he has worked his way up through the HS and then the JUCO ranks and then as an assistant at a FCS school before becoming an FCS head coach for a dozen years at Central Missouri State. Then to Sam Houston State and then to Georgia Southern.......who moved to FBS in 2014, in Fritz's first year there.

So it looks like he has been a guy who has slowly worked his way up the ranks. He has had a solid career but has never been on the fast track up the ladder.

Honestly, he could be a great fit. I like Matt Campbell as well. Not a real Bob Stitt fan. He is at Montana now which is a perennial power and is 7-4 this year.

Some might, but I don't think he is a "top level" candidate that the bigger name schools would go after. It looks like he has a bunch of ties to Kansas schools, so that would make the Midwest and Big XII more attractive to him. Who knows, I could be wrong with all of this.

Not exactly sure.

Because other P5 schools take coaches from schools like us that show if they can do well at the top level.

No offense but this is the loser's mentality that many have at ISU. We are lowly ISU, nobody would want to come here. Have you heard the names of some of those interested? Frost is a huge name. Campbell at Toledo, that is a big name looking to move up. What about when Briles, Harbaugh, Kelly and Chizik all wanted to be here.

For crying out loud Cyclone fans, we are in the P5 in the Big freaking 12. Get some self esteem and stop going back to the people that beat you.
