Anyone here follow College Hockey? And specifically UNO? I have been a UNO fan ever since my son has been going to college there which means this year. But I am pretty exciting about them going to the Frozen Four. Massa was absolutely amazing last night. I think they win the semis. Thy will be underdogs in the Finals, but they did split with North Dakota in 4 games this season, so they are capable of winning it.

I do wish Iowa State had a Division 1 hockey team.

this years tourney has been pretty wild. Lots of big time programs getting knocked off by the little guys. HAs been fun to watch. UND or Boston have to be favorite to win, but Omaha has had a good run!

For ISU to ever have D1 hockey, it would take like a 100 million donation to build a real arena + facilities, and they would also have to field a D1 women's team (thanks a lot title 9).

ISU actually has very good hockey programs for the level they play in. Would almost rather have that then step up to D! level and just be terrible forever.

I really don't think it would take a brand new arena. Men could play in Hilton and ladies could play in the current arena. Although, D1 may require min city capacity. I also think we would have a great recruiting advantage.

I don't believe the bolded part would be true. You don't have to offer the same sports for each gender to be in compliance with Title IX, it's about scholarships. I'm pretty sure in the numerous baseball threads we've had that several people have stated we could add a men's sport w/o adding anything additional on the women's side.

Not sure if that's still true, but just what I remember.

Hard to watch after my MSU Mavs lost as the number one overall seed. Still haven't won a tourney game in school history. Felt like an ISU style nut kick watching that one.
