Yeesh! 0-4 to start big 12? Not crazy given who we start with.

Could nab one of Tech or OU, probably not both. ... OU at home I'd take, at OU not as certain. Tech is kind of wild card how far things will fall off after Beard departure.

It's within realm of possibility to start 0-6 (and that could swell to 1-10). I'd hope we could beat TCU at home for goodness sake, for a change.

Goodness, if we are 1-10 to start conference, it will be ugly around here….even in year one of TJ.

Certainly.

I think it won't be quite THAT bad, but with the schedule set-up, it's brutal in much of the first two-thirds. ... My hope is the team begins to gel gradually as season progresses, maybe could steal a couple toward the end of that segment and get momentum in the final third.

I’m not really sure what games are really winnable. Our frontcourt is going to be really poor defensively. Talent is better overall though than last year. It’s hard to know how other teams will be anymore with everyone transferring or going to the g league all the time. Look forward to getting back into Hilton though with 100% crowds being allowed.

A lot of mystery heading into it ... almost a completely different roster. Coach who is unproven as HC at this level. Win total likely to be low, but a majority of the time more entertaining to watch. Hoping for hints of progress.

Tech has owned us in Hilton. OU is probably the best shot
The roster Tech is rolling out this year is not that great. Terrence Shannon will by far be their best player, and Marcus Santos-Silva will be solid. But after that they don't have much. With no Chris Beard on the sideline, and less talent on the roster. Tech is about to take a big step back.

Maybe, though it usually is year 2. Always seems to be a remnant of playing style and effort left behind, which has owned us pretty much at home and the road as of late. Hope I’m wrong.

Way up there

I think people also totally overrated Tech the last two years, Beard followed up his Natty appearance with 18-13 and 18-11 records. Can you imagine if a coach did that here? Pitchforks would be out in force. Plus, they finished 6th last year, a 6th place team that lost talent and a coach like Beard is the perfect set up to struggle.

I've written before that 10 wins would be good enough for me, and I'm sticking by that. Anything beyond that would be gravy for me.

Not saying we'll beat Tech, but we both have new coaches this year, I'm not sure anything that happened in the past applies.

Adams was the architect of their defense at Tech. I will say I expect a bit more continuity there. That said they lost a lot of talent.

10 is my exact target.
I think folks are right that the meltdowns at 1-10 in conference play would happen, but I also think that people don't realize how far there is to go from 2-22.

It's hard to say. I mean I said Tech will likely have some continuity because they are elevating the guy who designed their defense and they do have some holdover players.

Basically ISU replaced their entire roster, including the starting 5. There is zero continuity. I don't think last year is applicable at all to be honest, but it's hard to build something from the ground up so I expect some transition time.
