I know it probably wont happen, but I have always wondered what it would look like if the north end zone were bowled in. I think it could work after looking at the area for awhile. Here is what I came up with using MS Paint (Not the best quality but that's all I have to work with). The empty area in front is where the band's bleachers go which would line up pretty well I think.

They could also cover the paths on the side of the Jake where the team walks off the field. It would make it a tunnel for the team coming in to the stadium. But then the drawback would be that the kiddies wouldn't be able to give the team high fives. Oh well, fun to think about. I'm also working on other designs. Let me know what you think.

Update: Two more with full bleachers under Jake and half as tall stands on outside. Larger patio coming off of Jake and walkway connecting east and west.

Just not sure financially worth it to add the small number of seats.

Nice job. I would like to see what the stands would look like being around half as tall...and continuing in front of the Jake. Maybe up to the Jake balconey level and then slightly higher on either side of the building. Honestly, I think that doing this is a great idea. It's not going to cost much. And it bascially completes the north endzone. This would do SO many things...gives the teams a tunnel to run out of, makes the Jake look not as small in the endzone, connects the east and west stands, covers up the scoreboard supports some which makes it blend in some. I know that it doesn't add a ton of seats and income, but asthetically, it does a world of good for very little investment. I'm guessing they could do this for $10M or less.

I would build walls up the sidewalks to replace the fences, then fill the hillsides with some dirt to give those people a little better view. You know, you COULD make those stands on either side of the band for Lil Clone Club members and their parents (general admission) and then they could let the kids run behind the stands when they need to move around a little.

Yea, I was trying to decide how tall they should go. This was just the first general design I came up with that would make the north side more imposing. I figured it would also be more of an incline for sound and for viewing area around the jake. When you look at it from the side view it looks better I think than from straight on.

I know we probably wont ever do this but it does complete the stadium and give it that much needed aesthetic appeal. It's fun to think about what could go there. The Jake does limit some things but with the right design around it, it could look very cool imo.

That really looks good.

Something else you should add in there would be a walk way threw the stands to connect the east and west sides of the stadium. That way you would havent to walk all the way around the south endzone just to get to the otherside. Gives you another route to take.

ya thats definitely a big flaw in the current stadium design right now. i wish they would find a way to address it

Could just have a path underneath those stands that would connect east and west. Nebraska kinda has this. You just have it blocked off when the team is going on/off the field. Could even be lined with fans too. Put a concession stand down there or another bathroom for the people in that endzone. If you connect it on top that would go across the jake, not sure if they would like a lot of people being tempted to go inside the building.

Edit: Ask and you shall receive a walkway connecting east and west.

How are they going to access or bring in the field equipment if the front of the Jake is filled with permanent stands? Just something to consider, but I do like the idea of a couple side extensions. I don't like the idea of tunnels...would rather have chasms on either side to separate from the Jake and maintain the large feeling of the current north endzone area.

That would be cool! Whenever they start walking down the ramp to the field fans could stand along the fence and cheer them as the walk down. It would kind of look like the walk into Cowboys stadium how there are fans standing on both sides.

I thought of that as well. In the first design I left out the permanent stands due to that problem. But if you look at it there is about 12 ft of clearance under the Jake's balcony and it also extends another 20ft or so out. That should be plenty of room to get the equipment out. Just need to make sure the tunnel openings are wide enough and tall enough for future larger equipment to get in. That's why Not have a tunnel along the jake for the team probably makes sense. (still cool tho)

Duh!

What's the financial worth of the new ginormous video board? This is about looking big time for recruits. You can put hillside folks into these seats, plus e band. I don't care which end gets bowled in and hope that some day they both will need to be. That design looks great and I would love tunnels for the team to come out of. I also like the idea of a walk way. Good job!!!!

There is a rumor that with the new football offices, they will go through that Northwest hill to create a tunnel for the team to the new locker rooms. Once those offices are built, I think the North endzone is complete.

When the opposing kicker is ready to kick, we plan on showing half naked gals as a distraction and the sound system will be blaring You Aint seen nothing yet.

someone please do a mock up of the north endzone with "wings" on each side of the jake. would love to see the football offices go there, along with locker rooms. put our locker on 1 side, and the visitors+offices on the other since the visitors could be much smaller then ours. i have zero skills at this, but always thought that would be even better then a bowled in south endzone seating wise.

This gets rid of hillside seating, therefore, tickets prices in this area will increase. Do we have enough fans to fill these new seats?

I REALLY like the updates. They could have stairways going down the outside of the current stands so that people could get to the new stands from the concourse. And then stairs going out to the hillsides behind the stands. The band could have the middle section and the Lil Clone Club families could sit in the corners (general admission) and have a place for their kids to run behind the stands if they want. I think that they could do this project for cheap and the endzone would look great. They could probably put off the south endzone for quite awhile if the north was completely done.

Great job. I would vote for this as the next project after the FTF if I had a vote. Honestly, this is the one way to make the Jacobson look not so tiny in that endzone.
