I’m not sure what the field conditions were but there were several running plays where our 2-3 of our OL ended the play laying on the ground. Did great in pass protection but atrocious with the run.

Wherever I go, there I am.
OSU is really bad, somebody had to win, back to reality in Norman
This game was every bit as real as that one will be. I don't see anyone in here proclaiming that ISU have suddenly become world beaters who will destroy OU. Even the most positive folks are not claiming that Okie State isn't turrible.

What we learned…
1. opening up the passing game is a good thing.
2. OSU is really bad
3. Our running game still stinks.
4. OSU is really bad
5. our punter crashed back to earth when we needed some big punts.
6. OSU is really bad
7. There are at least 1-2 more teams we can beat this season.
finally…OSU is really bad.

At this point we just need to play offense like a college football team and get Wins. The Defense will be fine. Good game to get a “bad game” out of their system.
Agreed here. Have to think most games the defense will be just fine. Let things go on offense and keep trying things like we did today, even if they don’t work. We clearly need to throw the ball first and often.

-offensive playcalling had some nice creativity today. a big step in the right direction. There were still some frustrating first and second down runs into piles, but the playcalling and game plan was a big improvement.

-75 Neal is just atrocious in run blocking. The whole line is bad but he is terrible in there. He looks lost and is slooowwww.

-Rocco is really good. OSU sucks, but I'm looking at the first 4 starts as a whole.
1) He sees the whole field (This is where he's a massive improvement from Dekkers)
2) He avoids pressure
3) He rarely makes a poor decision/forces a ball
4) He is incredibly accurate.
We can win with Rocco in the BXII.

As I’ve thought about the game two things keep bothering me…
1. Purchase was really chewed up today. That was a surprise.
2. what was with the slide at the end of the game by Sanders? He Created a much tougher 3rd down (and maybe even could have picked up a 1st with some effort) by sliding well before contact.

I like Sanders but that was a bone headed play. CMC was pissed!

And in a way, it makes sense. Always tough to completely shut down OSUs scheme. A couple plays with a breakdown on our end, but happens.

I was pleased to see us make the opportune INTs - seems like the D didn’t always make the plays in years past, even these good defenses. Now need to find a way to get more defensive scoring

Are we sure that’s not on the coaches? It seemed to me it had been drilled in his head “Do not go out of bounds. Get them to use their timeouts”. I’m obviously speculating, but why else would he have done that?

The mindset going into that last drive should have been let’s get 2 first downs. Instead it looked to me the mindset was: get them to use their TOs.

It might not have been. I’m not privy to what’s being communicated. But that is what it looked like to me.

Rocco is the real deal. May have found some answers with Sanders. Seemed more willing to open things up today. Defense had was reasonably solid except for the two huge plays they gave up.

Was Orange playing? Seemed like we struggled to get much pressure, and I never was able to see him.

Orange was in there but he got pushed around a fair bit today. One of the defensive breakdowns was on Heacock. Left Bacon on an island on the outside with no safety support.

A shame this staff wasted 3 games before realizing what the point is on offense, and how this roster needs to play. Can’t have that level of coaching error.

A lot of details that need improvement but at least we can just matchup talent wise with most Big 12 teams. As long as we don’t get owned in the coaching department, we’ll have a shot at a W

BS

You’ve been watching too many years of guys being marginalized by this staff

There’s enough talent to have success against most Big 12 defenses if the staff isn’t incompetent
We will never be consistently good on offense until we figure out the Oline. It held us back even when Purdy and them were here. Makes you realize how good Breece really was getting the numbers he did with that line. And I'm speaking more specifically about run blocking. Why the hell couldn't we sustain those drives and wear them down at the end of the game today and just run the clock out? Why did OSU have a chance to tie the game at the end?

Especially when he could have ran for a first, that was brutal

But we have unlocked a play they call the halfback pass to the flat, if we can continue to run that, teams won't be able to just clog the middle. We are adapting a little. And yes OSU sucks.
