Last night might have been the most intensity I have seen from Georges on defense. He was super aggressive and didn't get the ticky tack calls that have plagued him this season. Of course, late in the game the zebras must have decided they forgot to call it tight and he picked up a couple then but in the first half I loved his tenacity.

I thought the same thing and said as much on Twitter. Maybe I was just watching him more due to Senior night but he seemed much more active with less standing around than I can remember in recent games.

Georges actually plays decent defense when his game status with fouls, matchups, etc. allow him to.

I thought the same thing. He was really active and did a nice job denying the ball. He also did s great job rebounding.

I know we all got tired of hearing about boxing out last week, but he really did a great job last night. Obviously he had his 10 rebounds, but there were also multiple times he had his guy, usually the big guy for ok St, boxed out, and it allowed Morris or Thomas to come in and get the rebound.

The return of Jameel has to help. With him out, Georges was not only the integral cog in our offense but the only player in the rotation over 6'6" so fouls simply were not an option. He actually had the luxury in the second half last night to just foul a guy to stop a layup.

That was a weird game, the missed free throw for a basket, a Georges dunk, a foul before Georges dunks with his left hand, the McKay head bouncer, the Deonte smoosh, the Nader posterized dunk. Yet we only scored 58 points. Lots of highlights for a low scoring game.

I attribute the open missed threes by Matt and Georges to the emotion of senior night. We did miss a number of wide open looks that we usually knock down and would have made the score a lot different.

It was a weird game for both teams. OkST had a ridiculously high number of airballed shots (two of them back-to-back even), and had a lot of silly turnovers. Not like passes getting intercepted-type stuff, but stuff like passes being thrown into the stands or simply out of reach/out of play.

That's because OSU isn't very good at basketball.

His main weakness is being matched up with a quick four on the perimeter, or being completely outmatched in size down low. Give him a fairly typical four, and I think he's quite good.

I agree. I think his defense is vastly better than people ever give him credit for. Every game I specifically notice him more than anyone else making plays in help defense and double teams.

People rightfully give Matt a lot of credit for shutting down Uthoff in the second half. However, when Georges was on him in the second half when he wasn't as worried about fouls, he did a good job too. Of course there is also the Uthoff disappearing factor. Near the end of the game, we had switched Matt back to Jok to shut him down.

yep, Georges doesn't get enough credit for the defense he played on uthoff in that second half too. However, I'm sure he didn't mind Matt getting all of the credit and I think it probably was a confidence boost for Matt.
