I had to read this about 5 times, just for pure joy.
That point bore home in particular during the week of the Iowa State game. Leading up to the home game against a Cyclones team that had never beaten Texas, Brown told his players behind closed doors that they all knew they were going to win the game. That was a given.
"Oklahoma just beat these guys 52-0," Brown told them, according to a source who heard the lines. "We have to match that. We have to make a statement."
Instead, Texas managed only a field goal in the opening half and was held in check in a 28-21 loss that reverberated around the nation. Muschamp blew up at Davis for questioning his defense afterward.

The Texas game is going to be HUGE next year..no reason to think we won't have a good shot at beating them in JTS. Our guys are going to have confidence and if we get any kind of momentum...look out. Could be a huge day for the program.

I have to say that the quote they put in there didn't really make it seem like he thought it was a given that theyd beat us, just that he thought they needed to kill us like OU did

Sounds like Mack was way overconfident going against us and the loss sent shockwaves through the program

What went wrong: A case study of Texas' 2010 football season
I had a good friend that coached high school in Texas and he thought Brown would never win a National title. He was wrong but this article is why he felt the way he did. He felt UT players were spoiled and soft. With the facilities, everyone catering to the players and them being spoiled, they had an arrogance and felt entitled. He also used that to explain UT players lack of success in the NFL. Have you ever noticed that even though a lot of Texas players get drafted, a majority flame out or underperform?
Nothing in that article surprises me. Nothing.

I love recruiting Texas/Oklahoma players that have something extra to prove when we go up against the big 2 in the south...we may never have their facilities, but our players have twice the heart and determination. I was in Disney World when that game happened and it was prolly one of the happiest days of my life. I would love nothing better than to start a winning streak against Texas this year. It'll take a lot, but I know CPR and Co. are up to the challenge.

This. I'm hoping we'll be 2-1 after a split with Iowa and UCONN. We get two weeks to prepare for Texas and it should be good weather with a big crowd...beating them for the second year in a row would be huge.

Poor Texas, hope you spoiled brats have another stellar year. Beating them last year was huge for our coaching staff and our program. Beat'em again next year Clones!

Sure, they will have us marked as a target next year, but the reason for it makes me extremely proud.
One of my favorite days watching Cyclone football!

Agreed.

My point was watch how the Cyclone players play and coaches coach in this game very carefully, regardless of final score. A "never say die attitude" with great preparation for a very motivated Texas team is what I'm looking for.

Good call. Come out ready to fight, never back down. That's what I want to see.

A win would just make it even sweeter.

What I want to see in 2011 is us not getting obliterated by Oklahoma.
