When those things happen once it's a shoulda/coulda/woulda situation. When those things happen every game you're just bad.

The thing I find concerning are that his first game at ISU (Loss to UNI) was a debacle full of game management and preparation issues. Many freaked out at the time but chalked it up to first game as a P5 coach jitters. Most of those issues still exist.

By no means am I advocating to get rid of Campbell. But agree with you on what I think the ceiling now is.

Right. I'm not jumping at firing him. He'll get 2-3 years no matter what.
I'm not convinced that he can get it done, and I'm not really convinced a replacement will, either. It just is what it is.

Not exactly sure.

Sometimes I wonder if he is too hands off come game day. Remember the Lazard PI pickup at Kstate. Apparently Matt was unhappy with a pass but let it go anyhow. Have been a few times that it seems he is letting Manning have 100% control and manning makes some odd calls.

We lost 4 NFL players and an experienced o-line and are looking at a Big 12 title if it weren't for

- A freshman kicker missing a 37, 38, and 45 yard field goals against Kansas.
- A 25-year old, 7th year Senior whiffing an easy sack, leading to an 81 yard TD pass against Kansas State
- An NFL caliber receiver dropping an easy pass against Texas
- Another quality receiver dropping a TD pass against Oklahoma State

And none of that includes some inexcusable coaching on our offensive staff, a pathetic excuse for special teams, and the officials handing Baylor 45 yards on certified ******** penalties.

I'm incredibly frustrated because we COULD be (one could argue SHOULD be) at worst, 8-2 right now. I mock Nebraska for thinking their program needs 9-win coaches or they should be fired, and I refuse to be that guy. ****, most of us last offseason were saying we're a rare university he could go 3-9 for a year or two and not worry at all. He frequently talks about how he's more proud and impressed with this team than any team he's worked with before, and while it's frustrating, I see where he's coming from. This offense is young. They've been put in positions to win, and they haven't executed. But again, they're young. As long as he's around, I trust he will make the right corrections next year and I believe we can see the same success we saw the last 3-4 years. Go State.
Oh and the refs vs Baylor I’d add lol

You know, just a notice, but targeting has basically been forgotten by the refs and they are called it more like they should. Beginning of the year, they made sure someone was tagged in the first quarter no matter what. Now you don’t get the review calling in, refs calling it or anything. Would be nice if they were consistent once.

I view it the opposite. Campbell is very hands on with the offense. He’s a very emotional coach. Emotional coaches can sometimes make sidelines chaos which can lead to not getting plays, personnel in, etc on game day. I get the feeling the offense is full of emotional coaches. You don’t see the lack of preparedness and personnel issues coming from the defensive side of the ball.

I believe this is the offense Matt runs, but from what I’ve heard is he doesn’t altar calls. The emotional part is true. When you let emotions be too big, then you aren’t using your best judgement at times. Dekkers has been going after his receivers lately and I think Campbell needs to kill that and learn that he needs to stay a little calmer.

I feel bad for Dekkers. He's had his own problems, but wide receiver drops have flat out cost him 5-6 TDs this year. They've also cost him some big moments when he made some pretty clutch throws in key drives that they dropped. Hutchinson TD against Texas, Noel TD today, Hutchinson drop on 4th down against KState. All clutch throws, thrown perfectly that should have led to wins with Dekkers getting a ton of praise/credit for those game winning drives (deservedly so). Instead, they were dropped. Dekkers has actually been pretty good in this game winning drives but everyone else let him down. False starts today didn't help him either on the last drive.

I about jumped out of my recliner when the 2nd to last time we had the ball it was 4th & 1 with the game on the line we had Dekkers in shotgun and piled him into the right side of the line for a 3 yard loss. The play by play announcer was also stating the obvious about how the defense has a second to flow toward the run when tha OC is stupid enough to not put the QB on the center for the snap. Been going on all year and now it’s got to the point where I think Manning is just being by god stubborn and it’s his way he’ll or high water.

Very true. I just think the problems are so much bigger that it's hard to focus on a play here or there. We should have won several of these games by 20+ with the way our D was playing and the D's we were up against.
Indeed.

But CampbellBall means keep it close, fewer possessions, don't go deep, save your best for after halftime. This means mistakes and bad calls are amplified.

I know this. You know this. Our opponents know this.

They gameplan accordingly now, and thus have a great chance at beating us, because they know we will not beat them.

2 to 3 MORE years of this crap? If Manning isn't gone, CMC should be. Period.

Yeah, again, any physical mistake is so amplified when you make 2 mental mistakes each play at times. In addition a physical mistake is amplified because the score is so low because we have a historic defense.

Its not one thing, it's a missed block one okay, poor effort or lack of focus the next, bad timing, bad throw, dropped pass, miscommunication the next. It's everything. And it's organization as well.
you forgot delay of games and false starts.

The crappy part for the fan is...The only way to send a message is to stop supporting the team, stop buying tickets, which seems impossible for a true fan. It seems hopeless.

And for an athletic department who, even in the new Big 12, ranks last in athletic funding, that can really put the nail in the coffin
